Belinda (Visser) French, of Ogilvie, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, December 13, 2021 at the Sanford Hospital in Fargo, ND with her husband and mom by her side. She was 53 years old.

CELEBRATION OF LIFE is be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, May 21, 2022 at the Ogilvie United Methodist Church.

MEMORIAL VISITATION will be held 1 hour prior to the service at the church.

INURNMENT will be in the Borgholm Cemetery near Bock.

Belinda Renee (Visser) French, of Ogilvie, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, December 13, 2021 at the Sanford Hospital in Fargo, ND with her husband and mom by her side. She was 53 years old.

Belinda was born on December 1, 1968 in Louisville, Kentucky to parents Stanley and Phyllis (Geisler) Visser. She grew up in Ogilvie and graduated from Ogilvie High School in 1986. She went on to Pine Technical College where she received a degree in accounting. In 1994, Belinda was blessed with the birth of her son Kristoffer.

On April 29, 2000, Belinda was united in marriage to Anthony “Tony” French in Mora, MN. They made their home in the Mora and Quamba area for a few years before moving to South Dakota. They lived in Sioux Falls for nine years where Belinda worked for Premier Bank Card in customer service. They returned to the Ogilvie area to be closer to family.

Belinda enjoyed working outdoors and especially loved tending to her flower gardens. She created huge vegetable gardens where she grew tons of tomatoes to make and can salsa. Belinda loved to cook and could often be found in the kitchen whipping up a wonderful meal for family and friends. Belinda had a special place in her heart for children and was always ready to take care of her grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and was blessed to foster a few kids in the recent years. Belinda always kept a positive attitude in life, even though she experienced many hardships; she never let anything hold her back. She will be dearly missed.

Belinda is preceded in death by her father Stan, and sister-in-law Amy Visser.

She is survived by her mother Phyllis; husband Tony; children, Kristoffer Visser, Kirstie (Robert) Powell, and Austin French; grandchildren, Cecilia and William; brother Dwaine Visser; sister Lisa Visser (Shane); nephew Andrew Niedzielski; niece Reva (Vince) Holmen; great nephews and niece, Louis, Adelynn, Leo, and Arcadius; her beloved dog Frodo; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

  1. I remember many years ago when Brenda and I were the only two obviously physically handicapped students in the Ogilvie school; both using walkers at time. Belinda was a few years older than me. I only ever met her in the halls between classes, and I did not have a chance to know her well. Nonetheless, she was always kind to me.

    I have always remembered her down through the years and all of the difficulties that came with them. When I heard that she had children and had married, I was glad for her.

    I feel the world is now lacking someone special without her.
