AKKERMAN INGEBRAND FUNERAL HOME – MORA
A GATHERING OF FAMILY & FRIENDS will be held on Monday, April 25th from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. at the Akkerman Ingebrand Funeral Home in Mora.
John Matthew Torgerson, of Mora, passed away on Monday, April 18, 2022 at this home. He was 71 years old.
John was born on March 21, 1951 in St. Paul, Minnesota to parents Donald and Gertrude (Strohmayer) Torgerson. He grew up in the St. Francis area, graduating from St. Francis High School in 1969. On March 18, 1973, John was united in marriage to Judith Wederath in Pine City. They were blessed with one son, Mathias.
John began his life long career as a truck driver working for the Princeton Creamery until they eventually closed. He then drove truck, having gravel and demolition debris from constructions sites until an accident forced him to retire from trucking.
John enjoyed hunting and fishing trips with his family over the years. He loved cooking and trying new recipes and would always share the best ones. He enjoyed trips to the casino and time spent with family. His greatest joy was spending time with his granddaughter Jayla. He will be dearly missed.
John was preceded in death by his parents and nephew Jason Torgerson.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Judy; son Matt (Jamie); grandchildren, Jayla, Dakota, and Ryan “Buddy”; siblings, Donald “Punk” (Illa) Torgerson, Lena Torgerson, Lois (Bob) Hazuka, Ed (Bonnie) Torgerson, and Russell (Pam) Torgerson; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
