Beatrice “Bea” Covel, of Mora and Ogilvie, passed away on Sunday, March 27, 2022 at her  home.  She was 92 years old.

FUNERAL SERVICE will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, April 1, 2022 at the Ogilvie Methodist Church.   Pastor Kate Mensing will officiate.

VISITATION will be held 1 hour prior to the service at the church.

INTERMENT will be in the Graceland Cemetery in Ogilvie.

Beatrice “Bea” Mayette Covel, of Mora and Ogilvie, passed away on Sunday, March 27, 2022 at her home. She was 92 years old.

Bea was born on June 28, 1929 in Alexandria, Minnesota to parents Clifford and Mary (Graham) McMahan. She grew up on the family farm where she helped with chores and gardening. Bea was united in marriage to Warren Steele Covel on October 7, 1950 in Alexandria. Bea attended the University of Minnesota where she received a degree in nursing which she used throughout her life as a nursing supervisor at several different hospitals.

She enjoyed sewing and knitting; hand knitting many baby blankets, buntings, mittens, and socks. Bea had a great sense of humor and a unique laugh that she loved to share. She adored games, especially playing Bingo and cards. Bea was an avid sports fan and loved to cheer for her Minnesota teams, the Gophers, Timberwolves, Vikings, and Twins. Bea was an active member of the Ogilvie United Methodist Church where she enjoyed playing piano for church services and helping with other various activities. During retirement, Warren and Bea loved to travel with their little camper all across the country.

Bea was preceded in death by her parents; husband Warren; and brother Robert (Ann) McMahan.

She is survived by her daughters; Debbie (Robin) Heins of Ogilvie, Lynn (Chuck) Olson of Mora, five grandchildren; Trevor (Heather) Heins, Dustin (Amy) Olson, Jennifer (Lars) Teigen, Kristine Olson and Kate (Alex) Stromberg; great grandchildren; Wyatt, Cole, Erica, Madison, Piper, and Chase; many nieces, and nephews and dear friends she loved very much.

  2. Debbie and Lynn I am so sorry to hear about Bea. Please call me @ 804 419 0770 . Bea was a room mate for the 3 years we were in nursing school,and a very dear friend that we kept in touch through class reunions and many phone calls ! Do you remember the last reunion when we went to visit a few of our class mates that were in nursing homes ? I will miss Bea terribly , she always had a joke to tell me and i enjoyed hearing her laugh with me. Please call me ! Love Joyce
