Becky Nielsen, of Mora, passed away on Sunday, November 7, 2021 at her home.  She was 61 years old.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, December 18, 2021, beginning at 12:00p.m. at Kev’s Depot in Mora.

Becky Ann Nielsen of Mora MN passed away peacefully at her home on the morning of November 7th, 2021. She was 61 years old.

Becky was the 3rd child of Ronald and Betty (Moody) Mortenson. She came into this world August 3rd 1960, a happy healthy beautiful baby girl. Shortly after her birth her family moved to Blaine MN where she spent her childhood tormenting her younger brothers through school, egging on the nosey neighbor’s while smoking candy cigarettes as she walked passed their windows, and her teenage years hanging out at Woolworth’s (wink) with friends.

After graduating from Blaine Senior High in 1978, she married Edwin “Rick” Steffy they had a daughter Kristy together. In 1985 she married a second time to Todd Nielsen having 2 more children Jennifer “Nifer”, and Christopher. After tried and failed attempts, her children took her main focus.

In 1998 following her parents (she always was a daddy’s girl) she moved her family to Mora to get on with small town life.  After the move to Mora she continued to work at DSI in Arden Hills for a few more years. She also got a weekend job at Coborns. She was usually the blonde with the bright smile on register 1 (she always said it was cause she was the fastest cashier in the land!) Eventually the drive to Arden Hills got to be too much, and that’s when she found her new home (job) at Advanced Telemetry Services in Isanti. She loved every last one of her work family. They made the time she couldn’t spend with her grandkids bearable.

After her kids were grown and moved away, she gave herself to her grandkids. The adventures they had, and the memories made will last them a lifetime.

Becky is one of the most genuine, fun loving, generous, thoughtful people you will ever have had the pleasure of meeting. Please remember her.

Becky is preceded in death by her grandparents; father Ronald A. Mortenson; sisters, Vicky and Deborah Mortenson, daughter Jennifer “Nifer” Nielsen, granddaughter Lindsey “Lu” Klink.

She is survived by her mother Betty Mortenson; brothers, Greg and Dan Mortenson; children, Kristy and Christopher Nielsen; grandchildren, Taytum, Levi, Kennedy Klink, and Amya, Simon Nielsen as well as many other family and friends.

  1. I was deeply saddened to learn of her passing. As a coworker she was one of those that made going to work fun. A conscience worker with a great sense of humor. She will be very greatly missed.

  2. My prayers to the family. I worked with Becky at DSI and remained friends with her. She had the brightest personality and an infectious laugh. We’ll all miss her, we all love her.

  3. She was an amazing woman, her heart was larger than life and her kindness had no end. I am going to miss you my beautiful Ninja.

  4. Becky has always been a part of our family, for as long as I can remember. She is my honorary big sister. She, Maria and John grew up together, always taking care of me when I tagged along. She always brought the laughter & the party with her; wherever she went!

I am so sad that you’re gone. I will remember you always. Until I see you again, rest well, sister, and play all the bingo you want! Love you, Becky!

  5. I worked with becky many years ago. She was a very kind soul. Her laugh was one of a kind. I remember being at casino and hearing her laugh.

    She will be missed.

  6. Kristy,
I am so sorry for your and your families loss. I remember when we were 13 and I was sleeping over when I first met your mom. She was so warm and funny. She loved laughing but not as much as she loved you kids. Hugs and peace to Becky’s family

  7. Kristy,
I am at a loss for words and so sorry for your great loss. First of all she was much too young and full of life. She was one of the happiest people I will ever know and I for one will miss her terribly at our family functions. She was also your mom’s right hand and I can’t tell you how she will miss her. Also Christopher , Dan, Greg and last but certainly not least her very special grandchildren. I have been praying and will continue to pray for your whole family. God Bless you all.

  8. My mom passed when I was in my early 40’s. My daughters were in their teens. My heart aches for you, Taytum, Levi, Kennedy. Prayers. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
