Marilyn Jeanne Nikodym, of Mora, passed away on October 26, 2021 at her home. She was 72 years old. Marilyn was a loving, caring wife, mother, grandmother, and friend; who raised 3 amazing children, Matthew, Brianna, and Barrett.

Marilyn was born on February 9, 1949 in Minneapolis, MN to Robert and Alina (Marquardt) Lorensen. She graduated from the University of Minnesota in 1971. It is there that she met her husband Greg Nikodym. They were united in marriage on August 21, 1971. Before moving to Mora in 1982, they lived in Belleville, IL; West St. Paul and Cottage Grove, MN.

While raising a family, Marilyn worked at several jobs, but her favorite was the Library Assistant at the Mora Branch of the East Central Regional Library. There she could share her love of reading with anyone looking for a good book. Whenever possible, Marilyn loved to travel. She enjoyed cruises and road trips with Greg and family; and was especially fond of Disney World which she visited many times.

Another of Marilyn’s interests was scrapbooking which she did daily. She made beautiful photo albums for each of her children and grandchildren. She was always excited and looked forward to her retreats with her scrapbooking friends.

Marilyn’s other hobbies included cross stitch, mini golf, and playing games with family and friends. She always enjoyed an evening of pinochle with cousin Phil and his wife Sylvia. Marilyn enjoyed decorating for any holiday and was always happy when the Christmas lights went up.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents Robert Einer and Alina Hulda (Marquardt) Lorensen.

She is survived by her husband Greg; sons Matthew (Leah) and Barrett; daughter Brianna (Nathan); grandchildren, Cayce, Laila, Adalyn, Cole, Blake, Abby, Nathan Jr., Justin and Evelynn; brothers, Alan, Mark (Geri), Roland (Jennie), Keith (Debbie), and Kevin (Patti) Lorensen; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
