A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

Dianne K. Mattson, of Mora, Minnesota, passed away on July 30, 2021 at North Memorial Hospital in Robbinsdale. She was 72 years old.

Dianne was born April 12, 1949 in LaCrosse, Wisconsin to Jerry and Eunice (Mehlum) Paulsrud. She grew up on her family’s tobacco and dairy farm in Westby, Wisconsin, the second of three siblings, and attended country school until the 8th grade. She graduated from Westby High School in 1967, then moved to Minnesota where she earned her Associate’s Degree in accounting. She met Jim Morris and they wed on February 15, 1969 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Westby. Dianne, Jim, and their two children were involved in church activities including the private school, Grasston Christian Academy. Dianne worked at several hospitals in the 1970s and 1980s, including being an EMT for a short while. Jim passed away on February 5, 1985.

Through Grasston Christian Academy as well as other church activities, Dianne met Don Mattson, who was divorced with three children of his own. They wed on December 31, 1986 at the Assemblies of God Church in Mora. They had one child. Dianne became an accountant at Brighter Day Residence, Inc. in Mora where she worked for 18 years. After retirement, she began volunteering more at Open Arms Church in Grasston, where she and Don had attended for many years. Dianne had a listening ear and great wisdom to share with others in need, though she was never afraid to speak her mind. Her hobbies included taking peaceful car rides through scenic areas, putting together jigsaw puzzles, and watching Hallmark movies.

She is survived by her spouse, Don Mattson, six children: Dannette (Dean) Grossnickle, Dana (Daniel) Shaffer, Sara Morris, John (Brooke) Morris, Christine (Ryan) McKinney, and Abbie Mattson; siblings: Ron (Nadine) Paulsrud and Cheryl Mossholder; uncle Tilford Paulsrud; eight grandchildren: Lydia Watkins, Caleb Grossnickle, Kyle Grossnickle, Johnathan Watkins, Luke McKinney, Lillian McKinney, Madeline Morris, and John Harvey Morris; three great-grandchildren: Neil, Adelyn, and Hudson Pickard; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father, mother, and step-father Earl Wakefied, spouse Jim Morris, brother-in-law Terry Mossholder, four infant siblings, and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
