AKKERMAN INGEBRAND FUNERAL HOME 0f MORA

Richard Henry Nelson, of Ogilvie, MN passed away on Thursday, June 10, 2021 at North Memorial Hospital.  He was 87 years old.

FUNERAL SERVICE will be held on Friday, June 18th at 1:00 pm at Akkerman Ingebrand Funeral Home. Pastor Bob DeYoung will officiate.

VISITATION will be one hour prior to the service on Friday at the funeral home.

INTERMENT will be at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery.

Richard “Dick” Henry Nelson, of Ogilvie, passed away on June 10, 2021 at North Memorial Hospital. He was 87 years young.

Dick was born on November 30, 1933 in a small house on Lori Lake to Oscar Richard and Mable Cornella (Stark) Nelson. He was married on November 28, 1953 to Pauline Gayle (Grahek) Nelson. They had five children.

Dick, by trade, worked as a block layer for many years for Orin Thompson and Jameson Brothers receiving awards for his craftsmanship. He had a small farm near Fish Lake where he raised his family. He loved to hunt, fish, trap, garden, and tell stories about things that happened in his life and could tell you anything you wanted to know about what happened in our county. If you couldn’t find him at work or home, check his office (Double J Café) that’s where he told the best stories.

He was preceded in death by his wife Pauline, parents Oscar and Mable, granddaughters Madison (Sipes) Nelson, Carina Biederman, son-in-law Charlie Young, brother and sister-in-law Melvin (Adeline) Nelson, sister and brother-in-law Janette (Bill) Kemp, sister-in-law Jackie Nelson, brother and sisters-in-law Don (Terry) Grahek and Mickey Grahek.

He is survived by his brother LeRoy Nelson of Mora; children, Jack (Elaine) Nelson of Dallas, TX., Linda (Brad) Wahlstrom of Ogilvie, Jim (Juanita) Nelson of Mora, Dean (Val) Nelson of Mora and Sandra Young of Mora; grandchildren, Bryan and Danny Nelson, Roy (Emy) Biederman, Oscar Biederman, Magan (Goldy) Thiel; great grandchildren, Ryce, Austin, Araea, Parker, Preston, Bailey, Bella, Benji, Brock, Oliver, Ivy, Dryden and Rixon; also by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

  1. What a Great Man to work with. Dick guided me in the masonry trade when I first worked with him at Classic Construction 34 years ago with his son, Jack. Thank you for the knowledge you in bedded in me. RIP Dick

  4. THE RICHARD NELSON FAMILY I AM SO SORRY TO HEAR OF RICHARD’S PASSING. WE ARE FIRST COUSINS ON HIS MOTHER’S SIDE. I AM A FEW YEARS OLDER BUT REMEMBER FONDLY THOSE HUNTING TRIPS. RICHARD WAS FUN LOVING BUT A HARD WORKER TRAVELING TO MINNEAPOLIS FOR WORK TO SUPPORT HIS HAMILY. LOVED THE STORIES.
