Stanley “Stan” Visser, of Ogilvie, passed away on Monday, February 8, 2021 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in St. Paul, MN.  He was 77 years old.

MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, June 19, 2021 at the Ogilvie United Methodist Church.

MEMORIAL VISITATION will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.

INURNMENT will be in the Borgholm Cemetery near Bock.

Stanley “Stan” Visser, of Ogilvie, passed away on Monday, February 8, 2021 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in St. Paul, MN. He was 77 years old.

Stan was born on May 26, 1943 in Belgrade, Minnesota to parents Steven and Bertha (Dykstra) Visser. He grew up in the Belgrade/Brooten area until the family moved to a farm in Bock when he was a teenager. In his younger years he helped with farm work for his parents and other neighbors. Stan served in the National Guard from 1963 to 1966 before receiving a medical discharge. He continued to be a proud supporter of the Ogilvie American Legion throughout his life.

On November 5, 1965, Stan was united in marriage to Phyllis Geisler in Kentucky. They eventually made their home in Ogilvie in May of 1969 where they raised their three children. Stan spent the majority of his career in the construction field doing mainly dirtwork projects.

Stan loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman; and was the proud owner of the Outpost 47 Bait store for a number of years. He also enjoyed Motorsports, especially car and truck races at the Ogilvie Speedway. Most of all, Stan loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Stan will always be remembered as a simple, straight forward man who wasn’t afraid to speak his mind. He will be deeply missed.

Stan was preceded in death by his parents; daughter-in-law Amy; brothers, Kenneth and Richard; sister Arlene Bos; and brothers-in-law John, Danny, and Daryl Geisler.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Phyllis; children, Lisa (Shane), Belinda (Anthony) French, and Dwaine; grandchildren, Kirstie (Robert) Powell, Andrew (Marissa) Niedzielski, Reva (Vince) Holmen, Kristoffer Visser, and Austin French; great grandchildren, Louiss, Adelynn, and Leo; siblings, Theresa (Melvin) Schruer, George (Carolyn), and Maurice (Kathryn); brothers-in-law, Henry Bos, Richard (Nancy) Geisler, and Dennis Geisler; sisters-in-law Debi Geisler and Judy Noffsinger; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
