Beloved Sharon Cardella Swenson, of Mora, passed away peacefully in her sleep at the Scandia House, to be with our Lord on May 18, 2021. She was 83 years old.

Sharon was born May 13, 1938 in Cannelton, Indiana to Marcus and Vivian Blan. She was an only child and her father died of Tuberculosis when she was 12. She lived most of her childhood in Detroit, Michigan. When Sharon was 5 years old, a couple from the Missionary Alliance Church asked her mother if they could bring Sharon to church. This began her love and passion for Jesus. At age 15 she was teaching Sunday school to 35 1st, 2nd, and 3rd graders.  As a young teenager she worked at a pet shop cleaning bird cages and the Fanny Farmer Candy Store. She moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota right after high school in 1956. She worked at Northwestern Book and Bible, as a dental assistant for a short time, at a bank, and for a contact lens specialist.

Sharon met Ralph Swenson in March of 1963 while attending the Nazarene church. That was the start of many delicious dinners she made for him. They were married June 12, 1964, the night before Ralph graduated from the University of MN Dental School. Sharon was Ralph’s dental assistant when he took his state board exam. Ralph started his dental practice in Mora and Sharon worked along side him as his dental assistant and office manager. They attended the Nazarene Church and Emmanuel Baptist church in Mora.

Sharon raised 3 children with Ralph: Mark, Michael, and Lisa. She was active with her church and volunteered countless hours helping others through groups like Christian Women’s Club, MOPS, teaching Sunday school to the teenage girls for many years, and led countless Bible studies throughout her life. For several years, the church Youth Group met at her home for summer Bible studies, special K bars and hours of fun.

Sharon enjoyed many activities and hobbies. She downhill skied the mountains of Colorado and Big Sky Montana. She loved camping all over the country and Canada. Every spring it was tradition to go get flowers for her flower gardens. She took ceramic classes with Lisa. She had the gift of hospitality and loved cooking for family gatherings. Most of all she loved her family and friends and anyone she could help. Mentoring young women was her passion. Her mission was that everyone she knew would someday join her in Heaven. Many have been touched by her love and will be with her again one day. She now has her Crown with many stars.

Sharon is preceded in death by her parents.

She is survived by her husband Ralph; children, Mark (Rachelle) Swenson, Michael (Dawn) Swenson, and Lisa Swenson (Shea Rook); grandchildren, Brooke (Kyle) Peters, Erik Swenson, Rylie Swenson, Kaitlin Carpenter, Ivan Vazquez, Marcus Vazquez, Noah Rook, Samuel Vazquez, Meghan Vazquez, and Megan Rook; great grandchildren, Jeremy, Elliana, and Aela; brothers and sisters-in-law, Leroy Swenson, Robert (Bea) Swenson, Carol Witt, and Marilyn Zelinski; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
