Duane Piescher, of Mora, passed away on Thursday, February 18, 2021 at the Abbott Northwestern Hospital. He was 85 years old.
PUBLIC MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 27, 2021 at the Akkerman Ingebrand Funeral Home in Mora.
MEMORIAL VISITATION will be held one hour prior to the service on Saturday.
INURNMENT will be at the Oakwood Cemetery in Mora.
PLEASE NOTE: Due to CDC recommendations, FACE MASKS are REQUIRED at the services for Duane. Being aware of the need to keep social distance, and not coming if you are sick or at risk (e.g. elderly, immune-compromised) will help protect everyone.

Duane Albert Piescher passed away on Thursday February 18, 2021 at Abbott Northwestern hospital in Minneapolis with his family at his side. He was 85 years old.
Duane was born on July 17, 1935 to Herbert and Lena (Cole) Piescher on the family farm near Knife Lake in Hillman Township, Mora, Minnesota. He attended school at the Willard School- district 42 in knife Lake Township through the 8th grade. He then attended Mora school for one year. As a boy, he helped his father build barns and cut ice on local lakes.
In 1950, at about 16 years old, he went to East Grand Forks Minnesota for a short time and worked harvesting in potato, onion, and sugar beet fields. He also worked at the National T store in Mora until he went into the service on November 6, 1952. He served in the US Air Force during the Korean War. He was stationed in Alaska for 2 years then for a year in Fortuna, North Dakota where he worked on radar installations. In November of 1956 he was honorably discharged from the 29th Air Division in Great Falls, Montana with a rank of Airman 1st Class.
In 1960 he bought a farm in Ann Lake Township and started working at Boatel in Mora.
In 1963 he met his bride-to-be, Dianne J Beier at the Ann Lake Resort. They were married on June 27, 1964 at the St Paul Lutheran church in Ogilvie. They raised their 2 children Deb and Doug on their farm. He continued working at Bluewater until 1986. After retirement, Duane continued farming and raising hogs.
In 1983 Dianne was diagnosed with MS and Duane cared for her for many years until her passing in February of 2006. Duane was able to stay on his farm until the time of his death despite several health issues. He is now with his dear wife Dianne again in heaven.
Duane was preceded in death by his parents, wife Dianne, and brothers, Ross and Lawrence Piescher.
He is survived by his daughter Deb Johnson (Bob Herron) of Mora; son Doug of Mora; grandsons, Duane and Caleb Johnson of Mora; his little dog Frodo; and grand-dog Dagon; many other relatives and friends.
