Lorraine Templin, of Mora, passed away on Saturday, December 5, 2020 at St. Clare’s Living Community in Mora. She was 89 years old.
Lorraine Pearl Templin was born on May 15, 1931 in Fairmont, MN to parents Conrad and Estelle (Gute) Landsteiner.
Lorraine grew up on the family farm and her favorite childhood memories were rhubarb eating contests with her brothers and sisters, tree climbing, playing in the barn swinging from a rope, playing hide and seek and playing baseball with neighbors or friends on Sunday afternoons. She was confirmed when she was in 5th grade. She attended Martin County Country School until 8th grade and Fairmont High School through 11th grade.
Through her brother Vincent she met Anthony Frank Templin and they were married on May 24, 1952 at St. John’s Catholic Church in Fairmont. They moved to Estherville, IA and she babysat for various families. While living out in the country she saved a little boy’s life from a house fire. They moved back to Fairmont and in the late 50’s they moved to Foley. She worked as a waitress for 4 ½ years. She and Anthony took care of an ill family member and she worked at Fingerhut Co. in Princeton as a mail correspondent for 12 ½ years. 1965 took them back to Fairmont for 10 months to help out on the family farm; then back to Foley before moving to Mora in 1966. Lorraine worked at Fingerhut in Mora for 1 ½ years. In 1968 they adopted their daughter Tina Marie Templin and Lorraine remained at home with Tina until 1974 when she was hired as a press operator at Amoco and eventually became a material handler. She remained there until she retired in June 1993. Following her retirement she babysat her grandchildren.
Lorraine enjoyed crocheting, embroidering, reading, spending time with family and friends, fishing and later in life she enjoyed riding on the pontoon.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Anthony; sister Bernice (Don) Welte; brother Kenneth Landsteiner; sister Helen Gilbertson (Deryl); sister-in-law Janice Landsteiner; brother-in-law John Sellner.
