In 1946, Bernyce was united in marriage to Ellsworth “Bud” Wahlstrom and they made their home in Mora. Bernyce worked as a secretary at the Kanabec County Courthouse, Tinker and Johnson, and Blaw Knox over the years. She and Bud owned and operated the Mora Car Wash and Laundromat for many years. Bernyce was a member of the Mora American Legion and VFW Auxiliary and the Grace Lutheran Church. After Bud’s death in 1991, Bernyce moved full time to Arizona. She met and later married, Robert James “Jim” Wagner in 1993. They enjoyed over 15 years together in Arizona before his death in 2010. In 2015, Bernyce returned to Minnesota to be near family as her health began to decline. She spent her last three years in the care of her niece Sheri.

  1. I worked with Bernice when I first started at the Courthouse in 1979. She made a very nervous young lady feel comfortable right from the first day. She was a special lady. RIP

  2. I really loved Bernyce. She was a very kind and funny lady. Always friendly to me. She sure will be missed by me. Rest In Peace sweet Bernyce❤️

  3. Bob and Cay Keppers. You will be missed. Always smiling, great hugs, good advice. Best dressed award went to you.

  4. Sorry to hear about your loss. Bernyce worked at the Assessors office when I worked in the Auditor’s office before I married.
    Such a sweet lady.

  5. I worked in the same office with Bernyce for eight years in the Kanabec Co. Assessors Office. She made me feel at ease when I first started my job. Those years with her were fun times. I moved to TX but still kept in touch with her. Then she moved to AZ. We talked by phone to keep in touch. She was always so thoughtful and kind. I last saw her when she was living with her brother in Bloomington. I am so thankful to have known her and to have called her friend.
