Thomas George McClellan, of Brook Park, passed away on Friday, April 3, 2020 surrounded by family. He was 84 years old.

Tom was born on July 26, 1935, at home in rural Brook Park to George and Nina (Vettling) McClellan. He was the oldest of three boys. He grew up on the family farm and attended grade school in Brook Park and then high school in Pine City, graduating in 1953. After high school, he worked for the railroad until “Uncle Sam” called him up into the Army in 1958.

He married Lorene Alice DeLong on May 10, 1958. To this union, four children were born. They lived in several places including Colorado, South Dakota, Isanti, and Ogilvie before settling on the farm northeast of Mora where they lived for 56 years. Tom worked several jobs including gas pump attendant and bartender manager for the Legion Club before becoming a full time farmer.

Tom served on the Whited Township Board for 50 years. He also served on the Cattlemen’s Association and the Brook Park Lions Club. He enjoyed horseback riding and the great outdoors. His greatest joy was spending time around the bonfire with family. He was a true neighbor and was always willing to help family and friends. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and sister-in-law Connie McClellan.

He is survived by his wife Lorene of Mora; children, Charles (Judy) McClellan, Dan (Karen) McClellan, Theresa (Russ) Magaard, and Timothy (Jodie Johnson) McClellan; grandchildren, Jeff, Nick (Renee), Brianne, Scott, Duncan, Ian, Jon, and Colin; great grandchildren, Henry and Violet; brothers, Jim of Cambridge and Mike (Diane) of Fridley.
