AKKERMAN INGEBRAND FUNERAL HOME – MORA

Leoda Cole, of Mora, passed away on Sunday, December 29, 2019 at the Welia Health System in Mora.  She was 92 years old.

FUNERAL SERVICE will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, January 3, 2020 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Mora.

VISITATION will be held from 4:30-7:00 pm on Thursday, January 2, 2020 at the Akkerman Ingebrand Funeral Home in Mora with a Rosary Service at 4:30 pm and again 1 hour prior to the service at the church.

INTERMENT will be in the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.

 MEMORIALS are preferred to the Mora Food Pantry.

Leoda Ann Cole passed away on Sunday, December 29, 2019 at Welia Health Care in Mora. She was 92 years old.

Leoda was born Feb 1, 1927 to Matz and Eva (Bauer) Haupt on the family farm south of Taylor, ND. She was baptized at Elizabeth Catholic Church in Lefar, ND. She attended grade school at a country school thru the 8th grade.

She worked at home and various ranches, cooking, cleaning and babysitting. She worked at a hospital in Richardton, ND in the nursery. She met Kip Cole in 1948 when he was working ranches in Taylor, ND. After Kip was discharged from the U.S. Army in 1953, he returned to Taylor and they were united in marriage on February 2, 1954 at Hirshville, ND. In 1955 they moved to Warman, MN.

In 1960 they bought a dairy farm in Knife Lake township. She worked off the farm as a waitress in Mora at the Home Café and then at Sportsman’s Café. 1970 they moved into Mora, she started working at Sheller Globe until 1980 when she started a day care in her home until 1998.

After she retired she enjoyed stitching, quilting and going with her friends on the bus or in cars to play bingo. She also enjoyed going to visit her sister in North Dakota. 2015 she had a fall and broke her hip and started her stay at St Clare’s Living Community where she lived until 2019.

She is survived by her brother Don (Rowena) Haupt; son Chuck (Cathy) Cole; son-in-law Marty Runquist; sisters-in-law Sally Haupt, Angie Haupt, Edna Cole and Sonja Cole; grandchildren Katie (Ryan) Kerr, Kelly (Scott) O’Neill, Chris (Alicia) Runquist, Barb Kastenbauer, Matt (Megan) Kastenbauer and Mike (Becky) Kastenbauer; 17 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents Matz and Eva Haupt; husband Kip Cole; daughter Pat Runquist; son Philip Cole; twin sister Leona and sisters, Marion, Katie and Annie; brothers, Bill, Philip, Tom, Ben, Frank Haupt.
