Arlene Joyce Bos, of Mora, passed away on Thursday, December 19, 2019 at the St. Clare’s Living Community in Mora. She was 84 years old.
Arlene Joyce was born on August 7, 1935 in Brooten, Minnesota to parents Steven and Bertha (Dystra) Visser. She attended country school through the eighth grade. At age 16, Arlene began working at the Paynesville Hospital as a nurse’s aide. While helping her cousin Agnes Robyn serve food to the workers helping to build a barn, Arlene met Henry Peter Bos. They dated for a year and were united in marriage on October 21, 1960 at the Ogilvie Christian Reformed Church. From that point on, Hank and Arlene became inseparable for the next 59 years. They made their home on Morrison Street in Mora for many years, where Arlene ran her daycare. She cared for so many children over the next 33 years, taking them for ice cream and simply showering them with her love.
In retirement, Arlene and Hank moved to the Ogilvie apartments for a few years, then to a Farm next to their daughter Janet and husband Rick. Later they moved back to town to the Dala Apartments in Mora. When Arlene’s health began to fail, she and Hank moved to Eastwood Senior Living. Arlene then spent a few short months at the Elim Home in Milaca and finally at the St. Clare’s Living Community in Mora.
Arlene enjoyed crocheting, sewing, and putting together puzzles. In her younger years, she enjoyed snowmobiling with Hank. Most of all, Arlene loved spending time with her family and being able to spoil her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She always had a sweet treat for all of the kids. She will be dearly missed.
Arlene is preceded in death by her parents, and two brothers, Kenneth and Richard Visser.
She is survived by her husband Henry “Hank”, daughter Janet (Rick) Martens; son Gerald (Dawn) Bos; grandchildren, Ryan (Sarah) Martens, Randi (Eric) Goeppinger, Amber (Kevin) Danielzuk, Nathan Knutson, Tanner (Emily) Bos, and Colin (Sam) Bos; great grandchildren, Ella, Addison, Elin, Keira, Jordan, Max, Liam, Calan, Taite, and Reid; brothers, George (Carolyn) Visser, Stanley (Phyllis) Visser, and Maurice (Kathy) Visser; sister, Theresa (Melvin) Schruer; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
