Judith Z. Becker lived a meaningful, faith-filled life for 84 years. She passed on to eternal life on December 12, 2019. Judy lifted up everyone with her smile, listening ear, encouraging words, and constant support. She always gave of herself; those around her could count on her help, prayers, and love.

Judith Joan was born in Washington, D. C., on May 9, 1935, to Ralph and Gretchen (McCarthy) Zimmerman. Her sisters were Mary and Susan. Judy lived in Washington, D. C., Evanston, IL, and Springfield, IL, during her youth. She cherished her family, including her grandmothers, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Judy graduated from St. Louis University and went on to receive a master’s degree in social work from Catholic University. Throughout her 20s Judy had a career as a social worker, counseling and helping families in crisis.

Judy married Joseph R. Becker on February 13, 1965. They had four children: Theresa, Andrew, Joseph, and Margaret. Judy took great joy in being a mother and homemaker. The family lived in Fairfax, VA, before moving to Mora, MN in 1976. During her years in Mora, Judy worked to support the family farm, helped start a travel agency, and volunteered at St. Mary’s church. She embraced Joe’s family in Minnesota, caring for her in-laws and other family members as the years passed.

Judy was the best grandma! She so loved her grandchildren: Daniel (Taylor), Grace, and Ellen Kilgore; Caleb, Ryann, Aubrie, and Briggs Becker; Katie and Anna Becker; Isabel and Nicholas Adson.

Judy is survived by her husband, Joe; her sister, Susan Zimmerman; her children, Terry (Greg) Kilgore, Andy (Jorge) Becker, Joe (Roxanne) Becker, and Meg (David) Adson; and her 11 grandchildren.

Judy will be dearly missed.
