Joyce Ione Munkberg, of Mora, formerly of Grasston, passed away on Tuesday, October 1, 2019 at Eastwood Senior Living in Mora. She was 90 years old.

Joyce was born on April 4, 1929 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to parents, Morrison and Esther (Schewe) Ash. On March 10, 1945, Joyce was united in marriage to Melvin Munkberg at Grace Lutheran Church in Mora. They made their life together on the family farm and were blessed with five children. They milked cows, raised calves, and grew crops for 20 years. Joyce enjoyed the large vegetable and flower gardens on the farm. After Melvin passed away in 1999, Joyce moved to the Park Forest Apartments in Mora where she lived for 18 years before her declining health made it necessary for her to move in 2017 to Eastwood Senior Living in Mora.

Joyce was skilled in needlepoint, embroidery, knitting, and sewing. She made countless gifts for her family and friends. She enjoyed baking and entertaining her family for every holiday with a smorgasbord of foods. She will be remembered as a strong, humble, and resilient wife, mother, and grandmother and will be dearly missed by all.

Joyce is preceded in death by her parents, husband Melvin, brother Stanley, and grandson Phillip.

She is survived by her children, Harlan (Lynette), Don, Jim (Sandy), Judy Plessel (Larry Foster), and Sandra (Ron) Rohlf; 14 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren; many other relatives and friends.
