Darlene Peterson, of Mora, passed away on Sunday, September 1, 2019 at the St. Mary’s Medical Center in Duluth.  She was 84 years old.

CELEBRATION OF LIFE will be held between 12:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. at Northwood’s on Knife Lake on Sunday, September 8, 2019.

Darlene Joyce Peterson died at St. Mary’s Hospital in Duluth, MN on Sunday September 1st 2019. She died of heart failure at the age of 84.

Darlene was born to Walter and Bessie (Bartholomew) Nelson on November 26, 1934 in their home in McGrath, MN. She lived on the home farm where they milked cows by hand and her dad was a logger. She was united in marriage to Howard Peterson on August 9, 1952 in McGrath, MN. They moved to St. Paul, MN after their marriage and she ran an office from home for their roofing business, while raising their 5 children. They moved to Mora in 1969 where they built their home place.

Darlene loved home, family, friends and animals. She loved music and dancing, especially with Howard. She had a warm heart and was a very loving and giving relative and friend. She welcomed everyone, the coffee pot was always on and she always had treats to share as she enjoyed cooking and baking.

Preceded in death by her parents, her husband Howard, her siblings, her grandson Justin, and her great grandson Derek.
Survived by her children, Gregory and wife Jan of Mora, Gary and wife Debra of Ogilvie, Karen and fiance Jim, Kevin and wife Yun of Tennesee, Cheryl and fiance John; Brother-in-law Michael and wife Carole of Roseville; 11 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews other relatives and many friends.

Private Family prayers will be said on Sunday September 8, 2019 at Oakwood Cemetery, Mora, MN.

Please join the family for fellowship and celebration of life between 12:00 and 4:00 p.m. at Northwood’s on Knife Lake.

In lieu of flowers we prefer donations be made to Neighborhood National Bank Mora, MN to the Go for the Gold Assn.(Megan Engblom) in memory of Darlene. Megan was a very special great niece.
