Marie Martha Schroeder, of Ogilvie, MN passed away on Tuesday, August 27, 2019 at Elim Home in Milaca, MN. She was 83 years old.
Marie was born on August 1, 1936 to parents Nicholas and Mabel (Olson) Eischens in Park Rapids, MN.
On June 2, 1962, Marie was united in marriage to Albert Schroeder at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Two Inlets, MN. They made their home in Brainerd, MN and were blessed with six children. Marie was a stay at home Mom in charge of a family of eight. She was dedicated to her family and to supporting Albert during every stage. When the family settled into dairy farming in the late 70s, Marie adjusted to the daily demands and schedule of farm life, which was rarely routine, and never failed to provide the love and comfort that her family needed each day. As her own children grew and left the house, rather than slow down and relax she took on daycare and provided care for friend’s and neighbor’s children. Her energy was incredible.
Marie was an active member of the Catholic churches in her communities throughout her life. She enjoyed baking (mmm…warm caramel rolls), gardening, embroidery and crocheting. She will be remembered for her kindness and her friendship will be missed by many.
Marie is preceded in death by her parents; husband Albert; granddaughter Katie VanderVegt; siblings, Lawrence, Barbara, Leona, Lillian, Jerome and Kenny.
Marie is survived by her children, Randy (Elaine), Robert, Mary (Mark) VanderVegt, Tom (Shanna), Rhonda (Brian) Downs and Jim (Jaclyn); 11 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren; siblings, George Eischens, Sylvester “Buster” (Joan) Eischens, Bernard (Alice) Eischens, Joanne Gitchel and Leroy (Janet) Eischens; plus many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
