Donald Hamm, of Finlayson, MN passed away on Monday, August 12, 2019 at his home.  He was 76 years old.

FUNERAL SERVICE will be held on Saturday, August 17th at 12:00 noon at Akkerman Ingebrand Funeral Home in Mora.

VISITATION will be held on Friday, August 16th from 4:00-7:00 PM at the funeral home; plus one hour prior to the service on Saturday.

INTERMENT will be at Grace Lutheran Cemetery in McGrath.

Donald Hamm, of McGrath, MN passed away peacefully on Monday, August 12, 2019 at his home. He was 76 years old.

Donald was born September 5, 1942 on the family farm in McGrath to Glenn and Clara (Kuhlman) Hamm.  He was baptized and confirmed Lutheran.  He attended McGrath School graduating with the class of 1960. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in November of 1959 and was honorably discharged in June of 1963.

He married Frances Thole on January 9, 1965 and they enjoyed 54 years and 8 months of marriage. They were blessed with two children.

Donald’s work career consisted of machining, cabinet/woodworking, yacht building and injection molding until his retirement. He was also a state fire warden in Aitkin County for 30 years.

He enjoyed hunting, the annual Canadian fishing trips, the annual Back to the 50’s Car Show, watching wildlife in his back yard, cooking, baking, gardening and participating in the planning of their annual school reunions. As a handyman, he loved being called upon to help his neighbors. He also loved gatherings with family and friends. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Donald was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Marion Erickson, Elmer and Harold Hamm; great grandchildren, Michael Douglas Bassett and Shelby Elizabeth Wren.

He is survived by his loving wife Frances; children, Clarise (Doug) Bassett of Mora, and Donald (Janice) Hamm of McGrath; grandchildren, Joey (Matt) Anderson of Mora, Cory (Kari Nelson) Bassett of Mora, and Tara (Brandon) Wren of Princeton; great grandchildren, Kyra, Hailey, Rebecca, Grace, Gus and Charlotte; many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

  7. I am so sorry I missed the funeral. Don was am honorary granddaughter to me, after I lost my father and grandfather, and I have so many memories of him at NorthWest Swiismatic. I will miss him deeply. I love you, Fran,
