Traute Nordby, of Braham, passed away on Wednesday, July 17, 2019 at Elmhurst Commons in Braham.  She was 76 years old.

MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, July 22, 2019 at the Braham Ev. Lutheran Church with Pastor Julie Beck officiating.

MEMORIAL VISITATION will be held 1 hour prior to the service at the church.

INURNMENT will be at the Rice Lake Cemetery in Braham.

Traute Karla Nordby, of Braham, passed away on Wednesday, July 17, 2019 at Elmhurst Commons in Braham. She was 76 years old.

Traute was born on March 23, 1943 in Bremerhaven, Germany to parents Herbert and Anneliese (Ehrholdt) Stehrenberg. She grew up and attended school in Germany. Traute met an American soldier, Lee Allen Nordby, while he was stationed in Germany and they were later married. Traute and Lee were blessed with two children, Heike and Brian. They returned to Minnesota and made Braham their home. On November 14, 2004, Lee passed away after battling cancer.

Traute worked at the Park Café in Braham for over 20 years. She enjoyed getting together with her German friends group over the years. Traute was very talented at crocheting and made afghans for all of her children and grandchildren. In her younger years, she enjoyed spending time at the lake with her family.

Traute was preceded in death by her father Herbert, mother Anneliese, husband Lee, sister Christel, and great granddaughter Leighton.

She is survived by her daughter Heike (Chuck) White of Stanchfield; son Brian (Heidi) of Braham; grandsons, Eric (April), Tony (Dayna), Alex (Chelsey), James (Cassie), and Brandon; great grandchildren, Aiden, Elizabeth, Greyson, Rowan, Colton, Hudson, Madison, Ezra, and Harlo; brother Fred (Kristel) Stehrenberg of Germany; sister Rita (Walter) Hutchison of North Carolina; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends
