Margaret “Marge” “Peggy” Strombeck, of Mora, passed away on Thursday, April 11, 2019 at her home.  She was 85 years old.

MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, April 17, 2019 at the True Vine Church in Mora with Pastor Marlin Harris officiating.

MEMORIAL VISITATION will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.

INURNMENT will be in the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery in Brunswick.

Memorials are preferred to the True Vine Lutheran Church and St. Croix Hospice (6041 Main Street. Ste G- North Branch, MN 55056.

Margaret “Marge” Hannah Strombeck (Bankers), age 85, passed away peacefully at her home in Mora on Thursday, April 11, 2019 surrounded by her family. She was under hospice care for three months before her death.

Marge was born on February 28, 1934 in Bock, Minnesota to parents Theodore and Margaret M. (Jeuken) Bankers. Marge and her 6 siblings were raised in Mora.

In 1954, Margaret married Floyd Hedstrom who died in 1990. They adopted four children and raised their family in Hinckley, Minnesota before later moving to Texarkana, Texas in 1976. In Hinckley, she worked for Leora’s Dress Shop and for Nick’s Red Owl Grocery Store. She also worked for Ruby’s Bridal Store and Texarkana Security in Texas.

In 1994, Marge returned to Mora and was united in marriage to her loving husband, Lowell Strombeck, in 1995. Together they built a beautiful home on his family farm land. They planted thousands of trees, and Marge assisted Lowell with his stump grinding business.

Marge was a creative person who was always working on one or more projects at a time. She was a voracious knitter and produced countless sweaters, socks, and afghans for relatives (especially her grandchildren) and many friends. She was an excellent seamstress and made wedding dresses, clothes, and beautiful quilts. She also enjoyed painting, needlepoint, and cross stitch. Marge especially loved preparing large holiday meals for family gatherings and preparing desserts for her church, True Vine Lutheran Church, in which she very active. She enjoyed meeting friends and often sent guests away with her homemade treats.

Marge loved rural life and the Mora area. Feeding birds from her numerous well stocked feeders and watching wild life, especially sandhill cranes and deer. For the past 22 years, Marge and Lowell enjoyed attending the Clay County Fair in Spencer, Iowa and have made numerous friends over the years.

Marge is preceded in death by her parents, Margaret and Theodore Bankers; brothers, James “Jim”, Raymond, LeRoy “Pee Wee”; sisters Dorothy, Alice, and Delores “Dee”, all of whom she was very close to.

She is survived by her loving husband of 24 years Lowell Strombeck; children, Kale (Diane) Hedstrom, Tara Rushing, Neff (Geneva) Hedstrom, Hoyle (Rickey) Walls, stepchildren, Karla Strombeck, Karen (Dennis) Freed, Kathy Eymann, and Keith (Kelly) Strombeck; 19 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
