Elaine Schimming, of Brook Park, passed away on Monday, April 1, 2019 at Golden Horizon Assisted Living in Sandstone. She was 85 years old.
FUNERAL SERVICE will be held on Monday, April 8th at 11:00 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Mora with Rev. Anthony Cloose officiating.
VISITATION will be one hour prior to the service on Monday at the church.
INTERMENT will be at Oakwood Cemetery in Mora.
In lieu of flowers memories are preferred to: Women of Zion Lutheran or Zion Lutheran preschool.
Elaine Emma Schimming, of Brook Park, MN passed away on Monday, April 1, 2019 at Golden Horizon Assisted Living in Sandstone, MN. She was 85 years old.
She was born October 7, 1933 near Ogilvie to John and Emma (Colman) Steckelberg, the youngest of 8 children, and raised in Kanabec County. She graduated from Ogilvie High School and worked in Minneapolis at Dayton’s. She returned to Mora and worked as a receptionist for Bla-Nox and Anderson-Ibeck until 1982. She then worked for Pamida until she retired.
Elaine loved her cats, playing the organ and singing in the choir at Zion Lutheran. She was active in the women’s circle at church. She also liked to read and reminisce about her childhood and her family.
She was married to Howard Johnson from 1965 until his death in 1972. She then met Dennis Schimming and they married on March 27, 1982 at Zion Lutheran in Mora. She became a housewife and stepmother to his four children.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Raymond and Marlyn; sisters, Alvena, Deloris, Arleen, Ethlyn and Ivadel.
Elaine is survived by her husband Dennis; step children, Lyman, Elliot, Nicholas and Robin; six step grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and friends.
