James “Jim” Miers, of Stanchfield, passed away on Sunday, March 3, 2019 at his home.  He was 61 years old.

FUNERAL SERVICE will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, March 8, 2019 at the Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Braham.

VISITATION will be held from 4:00-7:00 pm on Thursday, March 7th with a Prayer Service at 5:30 pm and again 1 hour prior to the service on Friday, ALL AT THE CHURCH.

INTERMENT will be in the Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Cemetery in Braham.

James Walter Miers, of Stanchfield, Minnesota, passed away on Sunday, March 3, 2019 at his home. He was 61 years old.

James was born on September 25, 1957 to Alvin and Cecilia (Gross) Miers in Hillman, MN. He went to a one room school house until the 6th grade. Then he went to Onamia and graduated from high school in 1975. He joined the U.S. Air Force in October of 1975 and was honorably discharged in October of 1979.

He married the love of his life, Bonnie Mae Henry on August 27, 1977. They were married for 41 happy, loving years. After the service Jim and Bonnie lived in Elk River until 1988; then moved to Stanchfield. He loved his family and friends and was always there for them, unselfishly. Jim loved deer hunting and just being outside. Jim will forever be remembered as a faithful husband, loving father and grandfather, and will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Alice Martin and Lucy Miers; brother Willie Miers; sisters-in-law, Pat Miers and Lucy Jacobson; brothers-in-law, Jesus “Nick” San Nicolas, Robert “Bud” Schlegel, and Donald Henry Jr.; nephew John Acosta; and great-niece Becca Schlegel.

He is survived by his wife Bonnie; children, Bonnie Jean (Christa) Claremboux, Erin (Matt) Ernhart, Kim (Brian Lagermeier) Miers, and Jeremy (April) Miers; grandchildren, Aidan Miers, Tate Smith, Anissa and Emma Ernhart, Marailey and Brennan Miers; siblings Jeanette (Mel) Peters of Stacey, Bernice (Jim) Benjamin of Brainerd , Henry (Jean) of Lino Lakes, Jerome of Schaumburg IL, Helen Schlegel of Pierz, Mary (Gary) Stout of Anoka, Anna (Keith) DeChaine of Deerwood, Theresa Eide of Shakopee, Paul (Margaret) of Cedar, Susan (Tim) Oie of Annandale, Duane of Brainerd, Greg (Sonja) of Taylors Falls: brothers and sisters-in-law Dale Martin of Raymond, Ann Miers of Onamia, Ellen (Paul) Nieken of Hillman, Jeff Henry of Las Vegas, NV, Vicki Nieken of Onamia, Dianne Holmquist of Onamia, Jean (George) Esbensen of Eden Prairie, Renè (Chris) Athman of Milaca, and Michael Henry of Ohio; mother-in-law Yvonne “Bonnie” Faust; father-in-law Donald Henry Sr.; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, *godchildren, other relatives and friends.

  1. I am so sorry to hear of Jim’s passing. I will never forget when he was dating Bonnie Mae. He gave me my first ride in a fast car. I got to sit in the front seat and thought it was the best thing ever.

    Jim will be greatly missed by all who knew him. I pray his memory will be a comfort to all of you as you go through this most difficult time.

  3. All of my family loved my brother Jim and Bonnie too-they were a work of art as a couple-We feel so very sad and so blessed to have been part of his life. He did so much building and remodel for Willie and Ann.He was generous in giving of himself-unless He Didn’t Want too. He had his Dad’s humor ,plus more. A great brother,friend,husband and Dad and Grandpa-We will always remember him.Our love and sympathy to all of his family from my family.

  10. Bonnie, I can’t begin to tell you how sorry I am. You and Jim are like family to me. I will always have fond memories of our time stationed at Minot AFB. Jim was an awesome guy who always put his family first. He was a great practical joker which is one of the many reasons we got along so well. Thoughts and prayers to you all.
