Charles LeRoy Stigen, of Braham, formerly of Mora, passed away on Saturday, December 29, 2018 at Elmhurst Commons in Braham. He was 84 years old.
MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, February 23, 2019 at the Henriette Free Church.
INURNMENT will be held in the spring at the Grasston Union Cemetery.
Charles LeRoy Stigen of Braham, formerly of Mora passed away Saturday December 29, 2018. He was 84 years old.
Charles was born on January 29, 1934 at home in Rural Grasston, MN to Bennie and Marie (Forsberg) Stigen. He grew up on the family farm along with four of his siblings. He attended grade school in Grasston and graduated from Braham. After school Charles enlisted in the US Marine Corp and served our country from March of 1953 to March of 1954. Upon returning home, Charles was united in marriage Sharon McIalwain, to this union two children were born. Charles was a Cement Mason for 54 years, working with several construction companies Kraus Anderson & Opus to name a few. One of his biggest accomplishments was inventing the “Stigen Handle” to finish concrete. He also was an auctioneer for 20+ years. His hobbies included fishing, gardening, watching westerns, attending threshing shows, and listening to live music. He loved to sing, which is why he enjoyed attending band/choir concerts or dramas that his nieces and nephews performed in.
He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Paul, Oliver, Alice, Annabelle, and Violet.
Charles is survived by his children, David and Debra both of Oregon; as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
