Gordon “Gordy” Smith, of Ogilvie, passed away on Friday, October 26, 2018 at the Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis.  He was 79 years old.

A GATHERING OF FAMILY AND FRIENDS will be held from 10:00 -12:00 noon on Friday, November 2, 2018 at the Akkerman Ingebrand Funeral Home in Mora.

Gordon Harold Smith, of Ogilvie and the Dalbo area, passed away on Friday, October 26, 2018 at the Hennepin Medical Center. He was 79 years old.

Gordon was born on March 10, 1939 in Ogilvie, Minnesota to parents Lloyd and Thelma (Linder) Smith. He attended Ogilvie School. In 1958, Gordon met Carolyn Curtis while skating at the Crystal Roller Rink. Gordon was drafted into the Army on March 18, 1957 and served in Korea for 36 months. After his return, Gordon and Carolyn were united in marriage on August 22, 1959 at the Methodist Church in Osseo. The couple remained in Osseo and had three boys, Timothy, Todd, and Thomas.

In 1963 Gordon and Carolyn moved to the Dalbo area, where they farmed dairy and crops for many years. Gordon loved having all kinds of animals on the farm, especially his goats and ducks. Gordon was a “jack of all trades”, and worked many different jobs including, draftsman and plumber over the years.

On August 30, 2011, Carolyn passed away after suffering a severe stoke. Gordon was blessed to find love again, and was united in marriage to Janice Marie (Akerson) Blade in 2015. Gordon will be missed by his beloved dog Sheba and all who knew and loved him.

Gordon is preceded in death by his parents; first wife Carolyn; siblings, Pauline, Mary, Willy, and Ernie; step-children, Elizabeth and Billy; sister-in-law Merry.

He is survived by his wife Jan of Ogilvie, sons Tim (Tammy) of Ogilvie, Todd (Tawn) of Ogilvie, and Thomas (Rosemary) of Ogilvie; step-son Vernon (Erin) Blade of Alabama; grandchildren Jill (Eric), Josh (Cheerie), Terri, Desiree (Jake), Nicole (Jordan), Nick, Casey (Hali), Cody (Mellisa), Desire (Daniel), and Logan (Idallas); 15 great grandchildren; sisters, Maxine, Vonnie, and Jeannie; sisters and brothers-in-law, Sheri (Charlie), Teddy (Donna), Marti (Sandra), Tina (Alan), Cathy (Joe), Rudy, and Roland (Marlene); as well as many other nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
