Max Arnold Erbstoesser, of Braham, passed away on Sunday, September 23, 2018 at his home. He was 77 years old.

Max was born on May 11, 1941 in Braham, Minnesota to parents Gunther F. and Elizabeth (McGinnis) Erbstoesser. He attended Braham Schools, graduating in 1959. Max went to work as a welder for Butler Tank in the twin cities for a couple of years before transiting into the building construction trade.

On July 13, 1968, Max was united in marriage to Mary E. Nichols at the Braham Covenant church. They settled north of Braham where Max built the family home. They were blessed with two sons, Terry and Tim.

Max worked for Capp Homes and then Ordean Splittstoesser Construction for a few years before starting his own building company, Erbstoesser Construction. He retired from construction work in the mid 80’s, but took a job at Aurelius Manufacturing in Braham before fully retiring in the spring of 2004.

Max loved the outdoors and the yearly fishing trips to Canada and goose hunting trips to North Dakota. He loved deer and bear hunting season and enjoyed the time spent with family and friends as much as the quiet time spent in the woods. Max liked woodworking and making numerous little items for around the house. He looked forward to visits from his siblings and playing hand after hand of cribbage and cards. Max loved to spend time with his beloved grandchildren and to spoil them just a little. He will be dearly missed.

Max is preceded in death by his parents, son Tim, daughter-in-law Rebecca, 3 brothers, Donald, Charles, and Elroy, and 3 sisters, Evonne, Faye, and Donna.

He is survived by his wife Mary; son Terry (Kathryn McQuay); grandchildren, Sarah, Lillian, and Gunther; brother David (Ardyce) Erbstoesser; brother-in-law Jack Nichols; sister-in-law Carol (Walter) Nelson; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
