Debra Carol Funk, of Mora, MN passed away on August 31, 2018 at FirstLight Hospital in Mora after a stoic battle with cancer. She was 59 years old.

Debby was born in Minneapolis, MN on November 25, 1958 to Louis and Carol (Etzler) Fosse. She was the fourth of five children for the couple. The family moved around several times and settled in the Brook Park-Hinckley area where she graduated from high school in 1976.

She worked full time at several places while raising her three children. In 2004, she received a degree from East Central Community College where she was often on the Dean’s List for excellent grades. With her degree in Medical Transcription, she worked as a transcriptionist at the Mora Clinic until the department was eliminated. She then went to work at Coborn’s, mostly in the bakery and deli, until her illness made it impossible for her to continue to work.

Debby was a member of Grace Lutheran Church of Mora and a member of the Eastern Star. She also volunteered at many events for Pheasants Forever. Debby liked her cats and chickens, to work in her flower garden, to go camping with friends, spending weekends at motels and time with her sister and family. She was happiest at home.

She fiercely loved her children, grandchildren. She lovingly tolerated her husband of 12 years, Dan.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother Anton Fosse; and sister Judith Blaisdell.

Debby is survived by her husband Dan; children, Teala (Chad) Chromey, Tony (Amanda) Stevenson and Charlton Stevenson; grandchildren, Vitali, Urijah, Enoch, Fairuza “Zuzu”, and Athan; sister Sherry (Ron) Fedder; and brother Lawnie Fosse; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

  8. So deeply surprised and saddened to hear about Debbys passing. I just read about it. She always had a smile and we teased each when I d see her at Coburns. She never mentioned having cancer and was upbeat. I went to school with her and knew what a sweet person she was. She will be dearly missed. Keeping your family in my prayers.
