Susan Carol McGrath, of St. Cloud, formerly of Mora, passed away on Saturday, March 31, 2018 at her home. She was 68 years old.

Susan was born on January 20, 1950 in St. Paul, Minnesota to parents George and Lillian (Foss) Antonsen. She grew up in St. Paul and attended Humbolt High School, graduating in 1968. Susan worked as a secretary for many years at the St. Paul Courthouse and later at Midwest Plastics. Susan then opened her own Daycare and watched over countless children over the years. She loved and cherished the children she cared for and had a great impact on many of their lives.

In 1994, the family moved to a hobby farm east of Mora where Susan enjoyed tending to the vegetable and flower gardens and the farm animals. In 2012, as her health declined, Susan moved to St. Cloud. She spent her final years at the Skylight Gardens Assisted Living in St. Cloud where she doted on “the girls” with doughnuts, treats, and Shasta.

Susan loved to entertain and was a wonderful cook. She always had a stockpile of food, snacks, candy, or fresh baked goodies for anyone who stopped in to see her. She enjoyed playing Canasta and other games with her card club, and bowling in her younger years. Susan loved to watch and feed the birds. Most of all, She loved her children and her grandchildren. Susan will be remembered for her huge heart, selfless generosity, and always taking care of everyone around her with a special kindness. She will be dearly missed.

Susan is preceded in death by her parents.

She is survived by her children, Josh (Shanna) McGrath and Brittany Kroon; grandchildren, Ella Kroon, Erik Kroon, Drew VanVleet, Nicholas Richert, Jaxson McGrath, and Presley McGrath; sister Darlene Althaus; brother George Antonsen; former spouse Mark McGrath; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

  1. Sue will be greatly missed by many extended family and friends. She was truly generous and caring (and a great cook!). I remember her as the first in making me feel most welcome to the family when I first met Doug, and helping me to get know the McGrath clan. We had many fun times while we were raising our kids. Our hearts are sad and heavy for Josh, Brittany, Shanna and the grandchildren who will feel her loss the most. We will be thinking of you not only now but in the days to come.

    Shelly & Doug McGrath
