MEMORIAL VISITATION will be held from 4:00 – 7:00 pm at the church on Thursday.

Gavin Bradley Butenhoff tragically passed away on March 10, 2018 at the age of 16.

Gavin was born on March 20, 2001 in Cambridge, MN to Sarah (Mackedanz) and Bradley Butenhoff. As an 11th grader at Braham Area High School, Gavin enjoyed listening to music, making new friends, making his mom feel tiny when he hugged her, camping, cats and throwing around a football. He was a avid gum chewer, who never argued with anyone about his good looks. His good style often benefited his friends, whom were the recipients of his clothes.

Gavin’s love for life and his desire to celebrate the uniqueness of his family and friends lead him to a large circle of love and support, during all his life experiences. He cherished each person who stopped on his path, always giving his time to put a smile on someone’s face.

Gavin left this world way too soon, as did his friend Alexis Hasser, who also passed in the tragedy. In Gavin’s young life he had many thoughts on what he wanted to do when he became older. Gavin’s love of animals inspired him to want to open an animal shelter. Losing Gavin and knowing that they will not be able to see him achieve his many dreams will forever pain his family and friends.

Left behind to cherish his memory are his loving grandparents, Pat and Joan Mackedanz of Mora; mother Sara Butenhoff of Little Falls, MN; father Brad Butenhoff of Mora; siblings, twin sister Grace, sister Hannah and brother Mytchel; uncles Darren (Courtney) and Michael Mackedanz; cousins Kenzie and Karson Mackedanz; uncles Brian and Brett (Dao) Butenhoff; and cousins Makayla and Ethan Butenhoff, Brock, Ashly, Brielle and Lili Soderberg and Samantha Johnson; grandmother Kathy Butenhoff and great grandma Joanie Mackedanz; numerous extended family and loved ones; including the Butenhoff, Mackedanz and Holtz families.

Gavin was preceded in death by his grandfather Henry Butenhoff; aunt Brenda Graber; and cousin Bryce Butenhoff.

  15. So very sorry for the loss of your young son.
Life seems so unfair to tragically lose young people. Revelation 21:4; tells us: “And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore.” For more comforting scriptures please visit: jw.org. The Bible and Bible based information found there has given me hope, strengthened my faith and helped me to find out why? I know it will do the same for you.
