Alice Viola Erickson passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 15, 2018 with her family around her at the St Clare Living Community. She was 101 years old.

Alice was born August 26, 1916 in Braham Minnesota to parents Carl and Minnie (Traefold) Knutson. She grew up on several farms in Iowa that her father rented. She met her future husband, Jasper Erickson while visiting relatives in Minnesota. They were married on April 16, 1944 and spent their married years on a farm in Peace Township, north of Mora.  After Jasper passed away in 1979, Alice moved to Mora. She was very thankful to find a house across from Calvary church. She was very active at the church, singing in the choir, counting money and baking lots of bread for bake sales. She also volunteered for several years at the food shelf and delivered meals for Meals on Wheels.

She is survived by her children, Janet (Ed) Proffit, Arden (Susan), Diane Irish, and Darilyn (Wayne) Royer, 8 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

  1. To the family of Alice Viola Erickson

I wanted to offer my condolences for your loved one. May you find comfort in the promises from god found at Revelation 21:4
    with sympathy

  2. To Janet, Arden, Diane and Darilyn; I was sad to hear of your Mom’s passing. Wow, what a long life she had. It doesn’t matter how long we have our parents, it’s still hard and a great loss. She was the last of the Lone Star school Mother’s club! Remember those days? A really long time ago for all of us. I know your memories of her will bring you joy and peace. I’m thinking of each of you and praying for you now and in the days ahead.

  3. We want to add our sympathy and caring thoughts. Such a beautiful photo of your Mom–and yes to echo Phyllis what a long life journey. Jane and I explored the roads and school site this past summer with relatives visiting form out state —They had gone down the little road to that school with our brothers so long ago just to explore. So much changed–how many miles were walked and we cut through Erickson’s pasture when we could to shorten the trek!
Blessing to you all and prayers for your family. Jean Christen (Palmen) and Jane Mattson (Palmen)
