Brent K. Hallstrom, of Brook Park, passed away suddenly on Thursday, February 8, 2018 at his home. He was 54 years old.

Brent was born on August 24, 1963 at Cambridge, Minnesota to parents William and Elaine (Nastrom) Hallstrom. He grew up on the family farm in rural Mora area and enjoyed helping with the cattle and crops. He graduated from Mora High School in 1982. After graduation, Brent traveled to Alaska where he worked at the Yes Bay Lodge for the summer. He returned home and attended Northwestern College and Anoka Tech. Brent worked at Fingerhut in the maintenance department for a number of years until they closed the Mora plant. Brent then began working in the maintenance department at Sunshine Villa/St. Clare’s Living Community in Mora. Brent was presented with the Employee of the Year award one year for his hard work, dedication and kindness. He continued to work at St. Clare’s until his death.

Brent was united in marriage to Helen Bartel and they were blessed with two children, Levi Nels and Shaya Kay. Brent and the children still lived on the farm, and the children attend Mora Schools. Brent was so very proud of his children and their accomplishments. He loved to spend time with his children, watching movies or sitting around a bonfire. Brent enjoyed hunting and was excited for Levi’s interest in hunting and fishing. He was a member of the Quamba Baptist Church. Brent will be remembered as a man of few words with a kind and gentle heart. When it was announced that Brent had passed away Levi’s response was, “Dad’s in heaven with Jesus now.” What a comfort.

Brent is survived by his children, Levi and Shaya; parents Bill and Elaine; sister Debra (Brad) Telander; brother Brian; nephews Nik (Lynn) Telander and Kadin Hallstrom; nieces Lisa (Jason) Fritz, Shannyn Telander, Kinsey Hallstrom; good friend Mark (Colleen) Allman, many other relatives and friends.

  1. Elaine and Bill. So sad ro get this news. I do remember him and always thought he was a really neat kid. I can say I know exactly how you feel and though it has been 6 months since I lost my son, the grief is still raw. What has really helped is the grief support group we belong to. I feel it has saved my life. if you can find one in Mora you should try it. Talking with others that feel like you feel is helpful. I am praying that you will find peace as you go through this transition that none of us really wanted to be a part of. Love, Mikie and Merlin
