Michael Irving Sjodin, of North Branch, passed away on Friday, February 2, 2018 at his home. He was 74 years old.

Michael was born on November 21, 1943 at the Braham hospital to parents Elton Eugene and Helen Adeline (Peterson) Sjodin. He spent most of his youth at the river fishing. Michael attended school in Ogilvie through the 10th grade. He left school and took a bus to Texas to help his brother and sister-in-law. Michael was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Ogilvie, Minnesota.

Michael married his wife Susan (Kleven) on January 21, 1966 at the Mora Courthouse. Together they had two sons, Troy Michael and Travis Daniel.

Michael started his working career at an early age with three jobs; gas station attendant, the Ogilvie creamery, and driving a milk route. He worked at Boatel in Mora before starting his welding career working at Arrow Tank in Cambridge and later at Garlock Equipment in Plymouth. He retired from Contract Builders Hardware in Barrington, Illinois after 17 years.

Together with his wife and family, he enjoyed camping, golfing, playing cards, and fishing trips. He liked relaxing on his pontoon helping everyone else catch fish or just boating around the lake. Michael’s heart was filled with the special times spent with his grandchildren and the fishing trips with his sons. Michael will be loved and missed by all his family and friends.

Michael is preceded in death by his parents, sister Donna Rae Jones, brother David Eugene Sjodin, his favorite grandma Pearl Peterson, as well as many aunts uncles, and cousins.

Michael is survived by his wife Susan, sons, Troy (DeLynn) and Travis (Colleen); grandchildren, Kayla, Benjamin, Hannah; sister Marilyn White; brothers, Elton (Carol), Richard (Penney) Daniel (Donna), Gregory (Kim), Bradley (Roberta); as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends.

    Sue,
I am so sorry for your loss. I believe I met your husband long ago, but my memory these days is not what it used to be.

I pray that the memories you have of him comfort and strengthen you through your grieving processes. In His holy name I pray, Amen.

I pray that the Lord blesses and keeps you,

    Cindy
