Sheldon Zellman, of Mora, passed away on Wednesday, January 31, 2018 at Fairview Lakes Medical Center in Wyoming. He was 78 years old.
FUNERAL SERVICE will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, February 6, 2018 at Living Hope Church with Pastor Steve Ekholm officiating.
VISITATION will be held 1 hour prior to the service on Tuesday.
INTERMENT will be at the Oakwood Cemetery in Mora.
Sheldon James Zellman, of Mora, MN passed away on Wednesday, January 31, 2018 at Fairview Lakes Regional Medical Center in Wyoming, MN after fighting cancer for 4 years. He was 78 years old.
Sheldon was born in Braham, MN to Ewald “Jim” Henry Zellman and Lauretta Esther Kobberdahl. He lived the first 5 years of his life in Quamba where his father ran a creamery. His parents then moved to the farm in Comfort Township where Sheldon worked on the farm. He was confirmed at the Zion Lutheran Church in Mora. Sheldon graduated from Mora High School in 1957.
He met his soul mate and wife, Diane Rae Hintz at a ball game in Quamba in 1960. They were married August 23, 1961. To that union six children were born. Sheldon worked one year at Bethlehem Steel in Minneapolis and one year for Harold Sandin Construction Co.; but his heart was always in farming.
Sheldon and Diane lived and farmed for 1 year north of Brook Park before they moved to a farm west of Grasston and lived there for six and a half years. They dairy farmed and raised vegetables. They moved again to their present farm in Mora, where they have lived for 48 years. He milked cows for many years. Sheldon farmed his whole life and enjoyed watching things grow. He operated a vegetable stand in Mora for many years. The last 20 years he had a vegetable stand in Sandstone. He also had a greenhouse and sold plants for several years.
Sheldon was a wonderful family man. He always had an encouraging word for everyone. He accepted Jesus as his savior when he was 5 years old in Quamba and he lived his faith every day. He was always praying for people and encouraging them. He loved everyone. He wanted everyone to accept Jesus as their savior. He was a member of Living Hope Church for 35 years. His faith was never shaken, even in his illness. He was strong in faith; he was ready to go to his heavenly home. He was a wonderful husband, dad, and grandpa. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, infant daughter Lori Ann, and brother David.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years Diane; children, Roxanne (Mike) Patterson, Sheldon A., James F., Heidi (Geoff) Masters, William (Mary); 17 grandchildren, Asa, Stacy, Dillon, Michaela, Marcus, Matt, Alex, Kyle, Joseph, Daniel, Hailey, Axel, Gunnar, Evelyn, Ashley, Micah, and Lorelei; 5 great grandchildren, Ava, Thorin, Joseph, Hunter, and Mason; sisters-in law, Cynthia Poundstone (Terry Carlson), Kathy (Keith) Peterson, June Zellman; Brothers-in law, Wyman (Sandy) Hintz, James (CeCe) Hintz; aunts Juanita Peterson, Wanda Dresler, and Lorraine Kobberdahl; many nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.
