Darlene “Dee” Longworth, of New Brighton and Apache Junction, AZ; formerly of Ogilvie, died on August 30, 2017.  She was 75 years old.

MEMORIAL MASS will be held on Tuesday, September 5, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Kathryn’s Catholic Church in Ogilvie.

MEMORIAL VISITATION  will be one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the church.

Darlene “Dee” M. Longworth passed away on August 30, 2017 as Regions Hospital in St. Paul, MN from an unexpected infection after hip replacement surgery.

Dee was born on December 10, 1941 in Milaca, MN. She grew up as the 2nd of 7 kids to Earl and Hilda (Klous) Horrigan. She attended Ogilvie School and graduated in 1959. In 1964, Dee married Richard “Dick” Longworth at St. Kathryn’s Catholic Church in in Ogilvie. In 1965, the proud parents celebrated the birth of their twin daughters Kim and Kelly in the Minneapolis-St. Paul area. Dee had several jobs; her most recent was with the US Postal Service from 1981 until her retirement in 2002 after 21 years of service.

She belonged to many social establishments such as the Eagles, Moose Lodge, and the VFW where nobody was a stranger. She also had a residence in Apache Junction, AZ. She enjoyed her life through travels, gardening, reading and camping. She was always ready and willing to help family and friends. Dee was a wonderful mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

She was preceded in death by her parents Earl and Hilda Horrigan, grandson Josh Besser and her sister Beverly Horrigan.

Dee is survived by her very special friend Jack of Apache Junction, AZ; daughters, Kim (Kevin) Ammerman of Princeton, and Kelly Forshier (Leroy Robinson) of Apollo Beach, FL; grandchildren, Nick Besser, Jennifer Besser, Whitney Ammerman, Daniel Forshier, Rachel (John) Allen, Cory Forshier, Taylor Forshier, Kevin Robinson and Kiara Robinson; great grandchildren, Anna Wilhelm and James Forshier; brothers, Richard Horrigan, Hal (Betty) Horrigan, Bob (Sandy) Horrigan, Donavon (Vanessa) Horrigan; sister Marion (Jack) Gossen; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

  3. She was a frequent guest at our VFW Post 7968 in Apache Junction. We fell in love with her and will miss her dearly. Her friends and sisters from VFW Post 7968 & auxiliary

    She was very fun loving and giving.
    With a heart of gold I know many people will grieve her passing . We will always think of her with love and friendship.

  5. Our deepest sympathies to Dee’s family and Jack. Dee was also a member of Tuesday Women of the Moose Apache Junction pool league and a Red Solo Cup member. We had lots of fun playing pool. There are 16 + of us. We will do a small memorial for her when we all get together this November. She was a great pool shooter!. Again, so sorry for your loss.
