Dora married Robert Eugene Magaard on April 12, 1952 at the Redeemer Lutheran Church in Willmar. To this union, seven children were born. They moved to Day, Minnesota in 1956. Her first job was at JC Penny as a clerk and then worked as an admitting clerk at the Willmar Hospital. After retiring, Dora was elected to the Braham School Board and served until they moved to Mora in 1997, when her husband Robert retired from farming. They enjoyed many years on the Ann River watching wildlife and fishing.

She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Ogilvie, MN. She loved reading, crafts, singing in the church choir and quilting every Tuesday at church until August of 2012 when she moved to Sterling Pointe Senior Living in Princeton, MN. Dora was a wonderful wife, sister, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She will truly be missed by all who knew her.

  1. Sorry to hear of the loss of your Mother. She was so active in her younger years. Many good memories.

  2. I’m so saddened to hear of Dora’s passing. We had an unique relationship. I was classmates with her oldest son, Scott; we then became neighbors in Day; her youngest, Kathy, and my oldest son were close in age and I babysat Kathy when she was just a tot! Bob and Dora were great neighbors and friends. My condolences to Dora’s family, friends, and community.

  3. Our sympathy to the family. Scott and Cyndi are very special to us and we’ve gotten to know some of the family through their events. It’s always hard to lose “Mom” . Regards, Jim and Chris Heiman in Randolph, MN

  4. Our Sympathies to Dora’s family. Dora was such a good friend to us and to all at Braham Schools.
I always got a kick out of meeting her when out and about; she never failed to open her purse and
pull out a handful of pictures to show the families of her kids and grandkids. A true friend and
remarkable person; she will be sorely missed by all. With deepest regards, Butch and Dixie Erickson

  5. My deepest sympathy to the Magaard familly. Dora and I sang together in the St. Paul’s Choir many years ago. We always had so much fun. I’m certain she will be dearly missed.
