Donald F. Gibbons, of Cambridge, passed away on Thursday, March 30, 2017 at GracePointe Crossing East Gables in Cambridge.  He was 89 years old.

VISITATION will be held from 5:00-7:00 pm on Tuesday, April 4, 2017 at the Rock Ingebrand Funeral Home in Braham with a prayer service at 7:00 pm.

INTERMENT will be in the St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery in Council Bluffs, Iowa.

Memorials are preferred to St. Croix Hospice in Donald’s memory.

Donald Francis Gibbons, of Cambridge, Minnesota, passed away on Thursday, March 30, 2017 at GracePointe Crossing East Gables in Cambridge. He was 89 years old.

Donald was born on August 7, 1927 in Council Bluffs, Iowa to parents Owen and Marian (Noyes) Gibbons. He grew up and attended school in Council Bluffs, Iowa. Don was a Police Officer for the Council Bluffs Police Department until 1963 when he moved to Minnesota and began his career as a bail bondsman at East Central Bail Bonds. He finally retired in the fall of 2016, after a 54 year long career serving east central Minnesota. Work was his life, but Don also enjoyed trips to the casino and racetrack, playing solitaire, and everything and anything about history. Don had a special place in his heart for his beloved cats.

Don is preceded in death by his parents, wife Joan (Leavitt), former wife Mary Margaret (Klager); and other family and friends.

His is survived by his dear friend and business partner, Pat Kemper; as well as several children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, other relatives and friends.

  4. I will miss Don. I have known him for more than 35 years. I would go to the lobby and there he would be “springing” someone out of the jail. He was very reliable and dedicated to his business. Truly a well known icon in the correctional field in central Minnesota. He will be missed.

  5. Don, I am going to miss seeing you in the lobby, your stories and jokes, but most of all, your asking me where your cookies were. I would then tell you I was still baking them, as it took me a long time to put the O-R-E-O stamp on them. RIP and prayers to your family!
