Adrian Katke, of Ogilvie, passed away on Friday, February 17, 2017 at the Foley Nursing Center. He was 81 years old.
FUNERAL SERVICE will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, February 23, 2017 at St. Kathryn’s Catholic Church in Ogilvie.
VISITATION will be held from 5:00- 7:00 pm on Wednesday, February 22, 2017 at the Akkerman Ingebrand Funeral Home in Mora and 1 hour prior to the service on Thursday at the church.
INTERMENT will be in the St. Kathryn’s Cemetery in Ogilvie.
Adrian Gerald Katke, of Ogilvie, passed away on Friday, February 17, 2017 at the Foley Nursing Center. He was 81 years old.
Adrian was born on February 21, 1935 on the family farm in Benton County, Minnesota. The middle child born to John and Veronica (Moulzolf) Katke, he attended country school near Jakesville. As a young man Adrian began working at the Gilman Creamery handling milk cans.
On June 30, 1954, Adrian was united in marriage to Ella Wendt at St. Elizabeth’s Church in Brennyville, MN. They made their home in Ogilvie in December of 1954 and were blessed with 11 children over the coming years. Adrian worked at the Ogilvie Creamery making butter before running the milk dryer for 13 year before the creamery closed. For the next two years, Adrian worked at the Dalbo Cheese Factory before taking at job at Land O’ Lakes in Milaca. Adrian worked there for 25 years before the plant closed in 1995. Adrian then worked at Boatel’s in Mora for 2 years before retiring to fish full-time.
Adrian’s one and only hobby was fishing. He worked overnights so he could fish during the day. He would have fished every day of the year if he were able. He enjoyed regular outings to fish with his children and grandchildren to Ann Lake, the Mississippi River, and Fish Lake to name a few. He will be dearly missed.
Adrian is preceded in death by his parents, brother Robert and sister Josephine Szczech.
He is survived by his wife Ella; children, Gordon (Karen), Louise (Frank) Stanton, Duane (Corrine), Carl, Mike (Delores), Rita (Gordy) Lobdell, Lyn (Barb), Rose Perry, Julie (Steve) Ruchti, Amy (Craig) Beeson, and Darla; 18 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
