Elwood “Bud” Blesi, of Mora, died on Tuesday, December 27, 2016 at his home.  He was 85 years old.

MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held on Friday, December 30th at 11:00 a.m. at Living Hope Church (Assembly of God), 2297 – 210 Avenue,  Mora, MN.

MEMORIAL VISITATION will be one hour prior to the service (from 10:00-11:00 a.m.) on Friday at the church.

INURNMENT will be at Fish Lake Cemetery in rural Mora.

Elwood “Bud” L. Blesi, Sr. of Mora, Minnesota passed away on Tuesday, December 27, 2016 at his home. He was 85 years old.

Bud was born March 18, 1931 in Anoka, MN at Dr. Gates Hospital to parents Arthur Sr. and Grace (Livgard) Blesi. He grew up on the family farm in Anoka; the second of eight siblings. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force from April 19, 1949 through November 19, 1952 spending 13 months of his service in Korea during the Korean War.

He was united in marriage to Neoma Dietrich in 1953. To this union 4 children were born. In 1964 he was united in marriage to Dolores Chamberlain. To this union 2 children were born.

Bud was a hard worker. Over the years he worked for Hoffman Engineering and Kanabec County as the Senior Mini Bus Driver. He went to school for barbering and did that for several years. He farmed continuously throughout his life. He enjoyed working, reading, playing his accordion and giving advice. Bud had a strong faith in God that sustained him through the joys and sorrows of life. He will be remembered for many things but most of all for his wit and humor.

Bud was preceded in death by wife Dolores; son Elwood, Jr.; sisters, Mary Jensen and Jacqueline Turner; and son-in-law Gale “Gabe” Tappe.

He is survived by children, Joan Tappe of Coupeville, WA; Paul (Tami) Blesi of Minneapolis, Gail (David) Otten of Coupeville, WA, Roberta (Brad) Sjodin of Ogilvie, and Fran Livgard of Red Wing; stepchildren Carol Dmytryszyn of Cambridge, Steven Chamberlain of St. Cloud, Michael Chamberlain of Anoka, Brian (Deb) Chamberlain of Vadnais Heights, and Mark (Brenda) Chamberlain of Abilene, KS; 20 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; brothers Arthur Blesi Jr. of Coon Rapids, Harry Blesi of Askov; sisters Sonja (Jim) Stewart of Cedar, Carole Becker of Santa Anna CA, Jane Stevens of Ham Lake; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

  1. So sorry for the loss of a wonderful man. All of you are in my thoughts and prayers. I’m sure Woody welcomed him with open arms. I am grateful to have been a part of his life. God bless you all.

  5. Grandpa sorry I chose not to go to your funeral. Due to all the family conflict. But I pray now that you are with Jesus that you can now see and understand some things. I will light a candle and say a prayer tonight to remember you in my own way. You are deeply missed. R.I.P
