Larry Jones, of Mora, passed away on Tuesday, December 6, 2016 at his home. He was 80 years old.
Service will be held on Saturday, December 17 at 2:00 p.m. at Jehovah’s Witnesses Kingdom Hall in Cambridge, MN.
Larry Owen Jones of Mora, died December 6, 2016 in his home. He was 80 years old.
He was born to Dale and Lillie (Johnson) Jones on June 1, 1936. He was the first of six sons. Larry earned a degree in welding from Dunwoody Institute.
He worked at Berger Transfer as a truck and trailer mechanic for 26 years.
He married Dorothy Barnard on October 14, 1989. Larry enjoyed many interests which included traveling with Dorothy in and out of the country, camping, fishing and, of course, his many mechanical projects. He could always be found tinkering with something.
After Dorothy retired, Larry and Dorothy started wintering in Willcox, Arizona. They were able to spend 10 years there and made many friends.
Larry also had a special place in his heart for his dogs, Sassy and Corky. They traveled with Larry and Dorothy and were always with them.
He loved to tell everyone about their antics.
Larry was a member of the Jehovah’s Witness faith for many years. He served on security detail on many Kingdom Hall constructions. He was an elder in the Cambridge, MN congregation and loved talking to people about the bible.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Dale and Lillie Jones, brothers Dennis, Michael, Tony and sister-in-law Donna.
He is survived by his wife Dorothy of 27 years, his brothers Dale, Neil (Cindy), sisters-in-law Beverly and Arlene, 2 step sons, 2 step daughters, 9 step grandchildren, and 6 step great grandchildren.
