Peggy Norby, of Mora, passed away on Sunday, October 23, 2016 at the Elim Home in Milaca.  She was 90 years old.

FUNERAL SERVICE will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, October 29, 2016 at the Emmanuel Baptist Church in Mora.

VISITATION will be held from 5 – 7 pm on Friday, October 28, 2016 at the Akkerman Ingebrand Funeral Home in Mora and 1 hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.

INTERMENT will be in the Oakwood Cemetery in Mora.

Peggy Norby, of Mora, MN passed away peacefully on October 23, 2016 at Elim Home in Milaca, MN.  She was 90 years old.

Peggy was born at home January 21, 1926, in Hillman Township north of Mora to Walter and Amy (Smith) Smith.  She grew up on the family farm with three brothers and four sisters.  Peggy attended country school and graduated from Mora High School in 1944. She married Loren Norby in October 1946. They had four children and raised them on a farm north of Mora. She worked on the farm and was a ward clerk at Kanabec Hospital for thirty years.

Peggy was a wonderful mother. She always put her children and friends first and was always ready to lend a helping hand. Her hobbies included the farm and its animals, caring for her birds, bowling, crocheting, and babysitting grandkids. Her grandchildren loved their gramma that could shoot skunks and bake the best cinnamon rolls ever. She will be so missed by all who knew and loved her.

Peggy was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, and two sisters.

She is survived by her four children Dennis and Diane Norby, Kevin Norby and Jane Schmidt, Don and Lona Norby, all of Mora and Diane  and Dan Johnson of Zimmerman, MN; thirteen grandchildren, twenty eight great grandchildren; two sisters Joanne Solmonson of Glenwood, MN and Mary Brisse of Kenniwick, WA; plus many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

  4. So sorry to hear of your loss. We worked with Peggy at the hospital for many years and then frequently saw her at auctions. She touched the lives of many through the years. She will be missed.
