John A. Lindstrom, of Brooklyn Center, formerly of Finlayson, passed away on Friday, September 9, 2016 at the Maranatha Care Center in Brooklyn Center. He was 89 years old.
MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, September 16, 2016 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church at Giese.
MEMORIAL VISITATION will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.
INURNMENT will be on Monday, September 19, 2016 at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis.
John Arthur Lindstrom, Brooklyn Center, formerly of Finlayson, was called home to his heavenly home on Friday, September 9, 2016 at the Maranatha Care Center in Brooklyn Park. He was 89 years old.
John was born to John and Gertrude (Marihart) Lindstrom in Minneapolis on February 26, 1927.
He was married for 68 years to the love of his life, Donna (Smith) Lindstrom. Four children were born to this union. John served proudly as PHM3 in the United States Navy during WWII and the Korean conflict. At the end of WWII, John was employed by Super Valu Stores Inc. and remained with them for 39 years.
After his retirement, he and Donna lived in the Pequot Lakes/Pine River area where he managed the Pine River Golf Course for 14 years. During his lifetime, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and golf with family & friends. He always had stories/experiences to tell about his successes & a few failures deer hunting or fishing. Cards were a favorite past time for him and he loved a good cribbage game with friends and family but especially with his mother-in-law, Lois. Traveling was a pleasure he enjoyed with Donna, friends & family.
He is survived by his wife, Donna, children Terry (Steve) Karsky, Sandi Davis, John (Susan) Lindstrom and Patty (Dennis) Nelson; 12 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren; sister Lorraine Hygrell; many other relatives and friends.
A Memorial Service was held on Friday, September 16th at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Giese, MN. Pastors Richard Langhorst and Roy Lovaas officiated. Music was provided by Gail Langhorst and Roy Lovaas. Urn bearers were Doan Wolinski, Joe Wolinski, Russ Karsky, Jason Karsky, Erick Lindstrom and Matt Lindstrom. Inurnment was at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis, MN.
