Monna Nestrud, of Mora, passed away on Thursday, August 4, 2016 at the Villages of St. Clare in Mora.  She was 87 years old.

FUNERAL SERVICE will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, August 10, 2016 at the Emmanuel Baptist Church in Mora.

VISITATION will be held from 5:00- 7:00 pm on Tuesday, August 9th at the Akkerman Ingebrand Funeral Home in Mora and 1 hour prior to the service at the church.

INTERMENT will be in the Rice Lake Cemetery in Braham.

Monna Zay Nestrud of Mora, formerly of Grasston, passed away on Thursday, August 4, 2016.  She was 87 years old.

Monna was born on August 12, 1928; the third of 13 children born to Milo and Nellie Birkholm Wulf at their home in Newport, MN.

Monna was united in marriage to Truman John Nestrud on March 28, 1945.  They lived in several homes in Wisconsin and Minnesota, but spent most of their married life in St. Croix Beach and then Grasston, MN.  Since Truman’s death in 1986 Monna has resided in Mora, MN.

Monna is survived by her daughters, Sandy Ehrhardt, Judi Christy (and significant other Greg Benson), Carol (Arlen) Ellingson, Diane (Pat) Krause, Laurie (Dan) Torgeson, Linda (Jim) Hosley, Karen (Ray) Lefto, sons, Ken (Cindy), Steve (Krystal), Ron (Helen), daughters-in-law, Peggy Nestrud Mills and Linda Nestrud, and son-in-law Tim Briggs.

Monna was preceded in death by her husband, Truman, daughter Eileen and granddaughter Maureen Briggs, sons Mick and Roger, sons in law Ken Ehrhardt and Roger Christy, daughter-in-law Janyce Nestrud and many other family members and friends.

Monna loved spending time with her family, especially her 36 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren & 17 great-great grandchildren.

Her legacy is her gentle spirit, quiet faith, her ability to feed a dozen people with a pound of hamburger, and her delicious baked goods.

We will miss her greatly but are happy she is finally at home and at peace.
