Doris Jean Jorgenson was born June 1, 1932 in Morris Minnesota to Gustav and Augusta Thielke. Doris grew up on the family farm located at Cohasset Minnesota, the seventh of eight siblings. She attended and graduated high school in Deer River Minnesota. After high school Doris worked at various jobs until meeting her future husband, Stanley Jorgenson, who was home on leave from the Air Force. They dated for two weeks before Stan returned to his Air Force duties. They exchanged letters during this time and when Stanley came home on leave again he proposed and Doris accepted. They married on August 22, 1951 at Doris’s family farm in Cohasset. From this union they had four children. Doris and Stanley were stationed in England for the first years of their marriage where their first two children were born. Upon their return to the U.S. they built a home on Coon Lake, Minnesota where they raised their children. Doris was very involved with the businesses that they owned and operated until their retirement; which included Forest Lake Motel and the Summer Haven Resort. Upon retirement they moved back to Minnesota with their final location being Mora, Minnesota.

Doris loved her retirement and was very involved with her community, volunteering her time at One More Time store.  She enjoyed her leisure time golfing and gardening. Doris was a very talented artist and created ceramic art and also many paintings which were shared with family and friends.

Doris had a deep religious faith that developed at a very young age which she shared and made sure her children were raised with that same faith.  She shared her belief that Jesus died for her and that she would be meeting him soon. Doris always showed her love to all those around her, she was available to help in any way possible. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

She was preceded in death by her parents and 6 of her brothers and sisters.

Doris is survived by her husband Stanley Einar Jorgenson of Mora; four children, Stanley (Bonnie), Daniel (Vicki), Cynthia, Jeff (Carol); 9 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; brother Raymond Thielke; sister Eldina Spalding; many other relatives and friends.

  1. Doris was such a wonderful woman and inspiration. We will cherish the picture of Grandma and Grandpas farm that she painted. She will certainly be missed.
