FUNERAL SERVICE will be held on Friday, May 27th at 2:oo p.m. at Calvary Lutheran Church in Mora.

VISITATION will be one hour prior to the service from 1:00-2:00 p.m. at the church.

BURIAL will be at Oakwood Cemetery in Mora.

Ruth L. Carlson, of Mora, MN died on Tuesday, May 24, 2016 at the age of 90.

Ruth was born on June 16, 1925 in Waukee, IA, the ninth child of William Charles and Mary Harriet (McCreary) Thomas. She graduated from high school and lived with her family until 1944 when she moved to Des Moines, IA briefly, before moving to Minneapolis in September of 1944.  On September 14, 1951 she married Burton Leonard Carlson at the Little Brown Church in the Vale in Nashua, IA. They divorced in 1980 after 29 years of marriage.

During her life time she lived in Waukee, IA, Des Moines, IA, Burnsville, MN, Richfield, MN and Mora, MN. She held various secretarial jobs at Gopher Ordnances Works in Rosemount, War Assets in Minneapolis, and the Chief Attorney’s office, VA and Ft. Snelling. 

Ruth was involved in a garden club, women’s circle at church and she volunteered at various places.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Robert and Julie Carlson of Mora and California; and 5 grandchildren Craig, Tanya, Davis, Megan and Christopher; plus one great grandchild Aubry.
