Margaret Emily Cox, of Milaca, formerly of Ogilvie, passed away on Saturday, May 21, 2016 at the Heritage House in Milaca.  She was 87 years old.

Margaret was born on July 13, 1928 in Burnett County, Wisconsin to parents Harry and Lavica (Baxter) Peck.  Born the 11th of 12 children, she grew up in Burnett County and attended country school.  In 1947 Margaret was united in marriage to Arthur Cox.  They were blessed with 7 children.  In their early years, the family moved from Minneapolis, to Coon Rapids, to Cedar, before settling on a farm in Ogilvie in 1962.   Margaret kept a large garden and could grow the most beautiful vegetables.  She had plenty to feed the family as well as canning for the long winter months.  After Arthur’s death in 1989, Margaret stayed on the farm until 2011, when she spent several years living with her children, before settling into The Heritage House assisted living in Milaca in early 2015.

Margaret loved the quiet moments in her life; sitting in the sun, drinking a cup of coffee; playing solitaire; or reading her Bible.   She was a wonderful cook and baker, remembered for her homemade butter, cheese and ice cream; and her delicious fresh baked bread and rolls, and decadent midnight chocolate cake.  Margaret also loved to go out for a broasted chicken dinner with her family and friends whenever possible.  Margaret will be remembered as a compassionate yet strong woman, who loved her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren deeply and unconditionally.  She will be missed.

Margaret is preceded in death by her parents, husband Art, daughter Dian Molin, 9 sisters and 1 brother.

She is survived by her youngest sister Lily Gleason; her children, Shirley Anderson (David Pearson); Loren (Gloria) Cox; Mary (Bryan) Palmer; Stephen Cox; David Cox; and Kelly Klin (Tom Bell); 21 grandchildren and many great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
