Eva Virginia Nelson, of the Lewis Lake area, passed away on Thursday, April 21, 2016 at the Haven House in Cambridge.  She was 94 years old.

Eva was born on January 4, 1922 at home in Brunswick Township, Kanabec County, Minnesota.  She was the youngest of five children born to Carl Ingeman and Anna (Lyndon) Ostrom.  She grew up attending District 32 country school before graduating from Ogilvie High School in 1940.   As a young woman, Eva worked in Minneapolis as a housekeeper.

On July 9, 1943, Eva was united in marriage to Karl Ruldolph Nelson in Hattiesburg, Mississippi- where Karl was stationed.   When Karl was sent overseas during WWII, Eva returned to Minnesota to be close to her family.  After Karl was injured while serving in Germany, the couple spent a lot of time at hospitals around the country as Karl recuperated.  In 1953, Karl and Eva moved to Crystal where they raised their two children, Ross and Karen.  In 1975, the couple retired, moving to the home they built on Lewis Lake to spend their final years.

Eva enjoyed working on ceramic projects,  cross stitch, and other handwork. She loved to tend to her flowers and was a wonderful cook, famous for her Swedish pancakes.   She grew up in the Lewis Lake Covenant Church and spent her retirement years there as well, but was also a member of the Crystal Evangelical Free Church for the years the family lived in Crystal.  She loved to sing in the church choir and was active in the ladies aide.  Eva will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

Eva is preceded in death by her parents, husband Karl, son-in-law Lynn Pauls, siblings, Lawrence Ostrom, Lenore (Donald) Oquist, and Vernon (Gen) Ostrom, and brother-in-law Lavine Stromberg.

She is survived by her children, Ross (Judy) Nelson and Karen Pauls both of Ogilvie; granddaughter Kim (Ty) Gerloff of Crystal; sister Priscilla Stromberg of Waconia;  several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
