Sheldon Russell Burk, of Mora, passed away on Tuesday, February 16, 2016 at St. Cloud Hospital.  He was 75 years old.

FUNERAL SERVICE will be held on Saturday, February 20th at 11:00 a.m. at Akkerman-Ingebrand Funeral Home in Mora.

VISITATION will be one hour prior to the funeral on Saturday at the funeral home.

INTERMENT will be at Oakwood Cemetery in Mora.

Sheldon Russell Burk of Mora MN passed away Tuesday, February 16th at the St Cloud Hospital.   He was 75 years old.
Sheldon was born July 31, 1940 in Braham, Minnesota to Russell and Della (Gunderson) Burk.  He grew up in several places in Minnesota finally moving back to Mora in 1948 at the age of 7.  He attended country school at Lowell and Warman, starting high school in Mora where he graduated in 1958.  After high school, he enlisted in the army for 3 years, serving 1 year in Korea.  He worked for Barton Construction running heavy equipment for many years which he truly enjoyed.    He married Violeta Polamos on June 15, 1996.  He retired in 2003.
Sheldon enjoyed hunting, fishing and attending auction sales with his friends.  He loved his many dogs that he had over the years.  He also liked to feed the deer so he could watch them out his kitchen window.  Sheldon enjoyed going to the casino and trying his luck at the games.  One of his favorite past-times was driving around the countryside in his Dodge truck.
He is preceded in death by his parents, brother David and nephew Daniel Lamp.
He is survived by his wife Violeta, sister Gloria (Kurt) Oleen, sister-in-law Mavis Burk, nephews Bruce (Julie) Burk, Bryan (Debra) Burk, Jeff Lamp, niece Kim (Tim) Bartz and many other relatives and friends. 

Funeral service was held on Saturday, February 20th at Akkerman-Ingebrand Chapel with Rev. Rob Pesola officiating.  Music was provided by Pat Fredrick.  Casket bearers were Bruce Burk, Bryan Burk, Jeff Lamp, Kim Bartz, Larry Jones and Tim Bartz.  Honorary casket bearer was Roger Hogstad.  Interment was at Oakwood Cemetery in Mora.

Just wanted to let you know I’m so sorry to hear about him passing my thoughts and prayers will be with you on the day of his funeral sorry but I won’t be able to make it if I could I would be there … Again I’m very sorry to hear of him passing .joni

  2. We built three silos on our farm and were lucky enough to have Stoney there . He was funny, courteous and drove our dog crazy. R.I.P.
