H. Sampson webphotoHeather Sampson, of Mora, died on Tuesday, January 12, 2016 at FirstLight Health Systems in Mora.  She was 38 years old.

MEMORIAL SERVICE will be on Saturday, January 16th at 2:00 p.m. at Calvary Lutheran Church in Mora.

MEMORIAL VISITATION will be from 1:00-2:00 p.m. – or one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the church.

INURNMENT will be at Oakwood Cemetery at a later day.

In lieu of flowers Memorials at preferred to Calvary Lutheran Church Scholarship Fund, Mora Dollars for Scholars or FirstLight Health Systems Auxiliary.

Heather Nichole Sampson, of Mora, Minnesota, died from cancer on Tuesday, January 12, 2016 at FirstLight Health System in Mora.  She was 38 years old.

Heather was born April 24, 1977 to Roger and Myrna (Nylander) Sampson.  She graduated from Mora High School in 1995 and attended Moorhead State University, graduating in 1999 with a B.S. in Paralegal Studies.  She later received an AAS Degree in Health Information Technology from Rasmussen College in St. Cloud, MN.

Heather was baptized at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Hancock, MN.  She was later confirmed at Calvary Lutheran Church in Mora, MN.

Heather faced many health challenges in her life, making her a determined and independent woman.  She was quiet and unassuming, very accepting and tolerant of others.  In 2005, she received a kidney transplant from her father; enjoying 10 wonderful years of good health.

Heather was employed by the ShopKo Pharmacy in Mora as a Pharmacy Technician.  She enjoyed working with the staff and customers there.  Heather was an avid reader, enjoyed music, loved all things related to Halloween, wolves and Eeyore.  She had a love for animals, especially the family pets.  She enjoyed events with friends and family, especially family vacation spent at Lake Ida.  And yes, she was a “Packer backer”.

Heather will be loved in our hearts forever.

Heather was preceded in death by her sister Amy; grandparents, Manford and Dorothy Sampson, Vinard and Lenora Nylander; and uncle Ronald Mohr.

She is survived by her parents Roger and Myrna of Mora; and brother Christopher of Fargo, ND.  Other survivors include aunts and uncles, Tom and Robin Brimhall, Steven Sampson, Sharyn Mohr, Louis and Kathryn Krohnfeldt, Dennis and Lynne Stevenson,; thirteen first cousins and twenty eight second cousins; other family and friends.

  1. Sam and Roger,We know that this must be such a terrible loss for you and your family. Heather had such a bubbly personality when she worked at the Grand Grill and at Shopko Pharmacy, she always made us smile. Please accept our long distance hugs and our sincere sympathy.

  3. Sam & Roger, so sorry to hear about your daughters passing. I know it broke your heart to have her pass on, but she is in a much better life now along with her sister. Sam, Mary Ann Knapp Kelling and I hope you and Roger and the rest of the family can find some comfort just knowing she is no longer in pain or suffering. The girls will be the brightest stars in heaven just watching over you.

  6. I am so sorry to hear about Heather. I have many fond memories of growing up with her. Not only were we able to hang out often since we lived so close but we also got to spend lots of time together at church. I am so grateful that we were able to be roommates in Europe as well. She was a great person.

  9. Such a long time ago when we were in the hospital together after delivering our babies. So sad Heather has passed on. Seems impossible life can be so,short? I am sure she will be missed by so many! My prayers are with you all!

  10. I haven’t seen her since Children’s Choir at Calvary, but I know that I commented many times that it was a pleasure to know Heather. You are in my heart and thoughts. Peace.

  14. I only knew Heather from Shopko, and did not know that she was sick. I am so sorry that you (her family) have lost such a kind and gentle soul….and sorry that our community has lost her, too. You will be in my thoughts and prayers.
