Eva Jane Hultman, of Braham, passed away on Thursday, December 17, 2015 at her home.  She was 94 years old.

Eva Jane was born on March 11, 1921 at home in Pokegama Township, Pine County, MN to Oscar and Anna (Otterstetter) Schulz.  She attended country school at Brown’s corner for 8 years and then transferred to Pine City, graduating in 1939.  Her father passed away at a young age and she and her siblings worked together to help her mother keep the family farm viable until her mother passed away in 1965.

On June 1, 1941, Eva Jane married Raymond Hultman.  They raised three children, Dale, Barb, and Rick on the family dairy farm east of Braham.  Raymond passed away in 1972 and Eva Jane went to work at the Braham Creamery, keeping the books until it closed. She then worked at Braham’s Farmers Co-op Feed Mill for several years and then on to the Leader Department Store in Cambridge.  She was the bookkeeper at the Leader for 30 years until, at the age of 89, her eyesight started to fail causing her retirement.   She always credited Minerva Eck for teaching her to keep books to the penny and the Johnson family, especially Neil Johnson, for being so generous to her and for creating a great work environment at the Leader.

Eva Jane loved her family and kept in contact with all of them and was the one in the family that could remember all of the birthdays, wedding dates, and more when anyone had a question. She was a good cook, had a green thumb for her garden and plants, knitted afghans, scarves and other items for friends, relatives and many babies that were added to the family during her lifetime.

Eva Jane is preceded in death by her parents, husband Raymond, son Dale, sisters Laura, Mary Louise, and Clarabelle; and brother Wallace.

She is survived by her daughter Barb (Blaine) Erickson of Stillwater; son Rick (Mary) Hultman of Braham; daughter-in-law Judy Hultman of Cedar; grandchildren, Reese (Kim) Hultman, Becky (Chris) Launer, Kirstin Sampson, Nickie (Barrett) Nelson, Jay (Heather) Hultman, Karin (Donavan) Moore, Stacy (Elias) Cardenas, Lori (Danny) Klepsa, and Britta Erickson; 15 great grandchildren, sister Ilene Krohn, brother Wilfred (Yvonne) Schulz, and sister-in-law Eunice Schulz; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
